Help a noob decide if I should start over with new race please?

So I have a level 26 Imperial Dragonknight and have been doing more dungeons than single player quests. I have been thinking about tanking but am reading that tanks are unnecessary. I read that the best Tank is a Nord Dragonknight. Would starting over just to change race even be a different enough of an experience to be worth it or would it just be pointless? Should I actually start over just to change race or maybe just reset my stats to be geared more for tanking? Also is the restoration staff a better suited weapon versus a bow due to healing capabilities? Currently I use a sword and sheid (which imperial race has a bonus for) and then a bow for range. If i switch races I lose that bonus only to gain Rugged for a race stat increase. I am also curous about reading online that 3 heavy armor and 2 medium armors are preferred? I am very new to the RPG thing and would like to be able to help out in dungeons. Any advice/information would be appreciated.

This all depends on whether you plan to play solo or in groups. In groups tanks and healers are highly sought after (effective ones). I myself am a healer and a highly effective one. Although very unorthodox I am a red guard and in the small guild i am in i am the only real healer. I chose red guard for the stamina regen as i have put all of my points into magicka and health. How you build your class will always depend on your play style. If you plan to play as a group, ie. dungeons, PVP, DSA and trials I would say to join a guild with some effective tanks who can assist with your build.

I'm a noob too and my character gets her boo tay handed to her in all the fights. I've looked online a bit for a good character build and I'm thinking DPS Nightblade might work for me. Going to create my new toon tonight. What did you decide to do?

I would not start over just to change race especially when you are half way to v1, but that is up to you. You can reset your skills and stats at shrines in some areas. I have done it a few times, its just costs gold.

I am High Elf Sorcerer and use 2 staffs, destro and resto, but many like dual wield instead. I also use all light armor for the bonuses so I can be killed easy so use of ranged attacks and hardended ward and healing ward help out a lot.
