Hooking up Surround Sound

I'm wanting to hook my PS4 up to a surround sound system I just got. I was going to use HDMI to hook up the PS4 to the surround sound, but the surround sound only has a HDMI out. Would I need to get a HDMI splitter and plug it into the HDMI out on the surround sound and then plug a HDMI cord from the splitter to the PS4 and to the TV? Or is there a better option?

HDMI out on the surround sound is simply to goto the TV. What's the make and model of your surround sound. If there's HDMI out surely there's HDMI in?

thats an odd system and not very input friendly. The way i imagine most systems would be set up is

CONSOLE HDMI OUT---->TV HDMI IN
TV OPTICAL OUT---->SURROUND OPTICAL IN

since this one has neither hdmi in, or optical in OR out, its kida tough to use with anything. I didn find this on an amazon review though maybe this will help:
Not a bad system, with a few caveats:
" No digital optical input, only digital coaxial. If you want to hook up a comcast cable box or a TV that's only got analog out or digital optical out, and you want good sound, you'll need to buy a digital optical to digital coaxial converter box. I have a Home theater system but my home theater system only allows AV wires it has no HDMI cord and no optical output do I get a optical to digital converter and plug that into the back of the receiver of the home theater system? Then plug the audio from the receiver to the optical converter then the optical cable from receiver to the PlayStation and the HDMI cord to the TV????

I just set my TV up with surround sound recently, I went from HDMI out from my TV to the HDMI in, into my home theater system.

Not sure how it would work for you. You should try and Google your TV model.
