How many PS3 consoles have you been through?

I have only purchased one Playstation 3 and I still own it to this day. Although I do have a problem with my Playstation 3 now, I don't think the problem is replacement needed. I think replacing a Playstation is not worth it at all.

What problem do you have? You didn't describe what is wrong with your console. Why wouldn't it be worth it to buy a new console if the old one broke? Are you not addicted to your ps3 like the rest of us? And I created two separate threads. One inquiring how many consoles you've been through and one inquiring how many controllers you've been through. The two have been merged into this thread.

Just one for me, but I've only had it for a year and I take care of it relatively well. I never play on it for too long, or at least if I do, I try not to do it often. Also, if I know I'll be using it for long periods, I put up a fan next to it so it doesn't heat up too badly. I really have little to no complaints for the PS3 slim, it's a good and stable console, in my opinion.

Surprisingly I'm still on my first one. I figured the trigger buttons would wear after a while but many years later the controller is still going strong! Most other controllers from other systems crapped out after 2 or 3 years but not this one. It's my miracle controller.

Does it have a name? Miracle controllers deserve names - and I do not speak from experience like at all.

Through one playstation 3. My first one was at launch and was a fat 80gb one, it died by a yellow light of death. It was pretty damn scary when it happened and the ps3 wouldn't launch at all. I had a slight problem which was that littlebigplanet was in the ps3, and I eventually couldn't even get it out ):

Until now, almost 8 years since day one release, i've only been through one console ( I treat it really well ! ). The only problem I've had was with the BD reader that in the first year broke, but luckily I still had insurance in it so after a month I had my console back as good as new. I hope my PS4 last as long as this one.

I'm on my second PS3, but that's only because I sold my first one. The first was a fat PS3 and it was great, I think after my friend bought it the laser failed, but it was on 24/7. He repaired it himself. I then got a PS3 slim a while after and that's been rocking it fine ever since.

I bought mine back in 2009 if my memory serves me correctly. Yes, I think it was 2009. It's still working well.

Amazingly enough, just one. We got a slim one when they they had been out on the market for a bit and actually even bought it used. We have never had to have any service done on it nor have we had to replace it. It's been a solid machine, but it's starting to get a little quirky from time to time. Nothing major, but it's getting a little pickier about the games it plays and sometimes it takes a bit for it to come on. I've had to replace the controllers a few times though, due to batteries not wanting to charge.

I've only got one which I've owned and used for a few years now. It's always worked really well for me, so I have no issues. Controllers aren't great though, I have two, one of which just randomly stopped responding.

I'm on my original PS3, which I bought a month or so (can't remember exactly when – it was about that) after the initial launch of the console – so you can tell from that how old it is. It still works as well as it did the day I got it. It's only ever had me as it's user and it's been used rather sporadically over the last two years or so, since I got more into PC gaming. The launch of Tomb Raider, The Last Of Us and GTA5 gave it some serious hammering over several consecutive weeks last year, but that’s about as most action it’s had in recent times.

I've never had to buy a replacement console other than when it comes to upgrading time. My original Playstation was still going strong when that was sold (the folding lid was a working a little loose but wasn't proving to have any effect on whatever game was used) and my PS2 was still working when it went into 'hibernation' up in my attic.

I'm on my third console now due to two YLOD incidents. The first happened when I bought Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. I put the disc in and played around 10 minutes before getting the YLOD. I attempted to fix it but it was no good, and I actually went a few months without one. I got a new one and all was well until I bought GTAV. Same situation again, 10 minutes of play then YLOD. Because I was so desperate to play GTAV I actually went straight out and bought myself a Playstation slim. I'm hoping this one will last long enough for me to save up for a PS4!

I've had two, but only because I sold the first one when I thought everyone had lost interest in it. I ended up buying another one about two weeks later when I simply couldn't stand to hear the constant moping since we'd gotten rid of it. You would have thought we had lost our dog or something. Needless to say, the interest in the console shot back up the second we got it and hasn't waned since. I guess they are scared I am going to sell it again. LOL

Knock on wood I am still on my first console. I guess it is because I do not play it that much. I really play it a lot more now but thankfully I am still on my first console I am hoping that I do not encounter any problems with it and that it continues to work. If it ever crashes on me I think I will just by the new PS4 since I am planning on getting one anyway.

Thankfully only one. Maybe it's because I wasn't one of the early adopters but I always take care to treat my machine with care. These machines are pretty expensive (although I admit they are a bargain for what you're getting with them). I'm out of college without much money so I really can't afford to buy another console because I broke it.

I bought a 40 GB PS3 with MGS4 bundled in 2008 and it still lives on! The disks don't enter easily, you have to force them in, and in the summer the fans spin like crazy but other than that it works perfectly!

I have actually only needed one PS3 console. I tend to take very good care of my consoles and I am always cleaning them out. One of the main reasons people's consoles break is because they fail to clean them out, same thing with computers!

I only had one PS3 console because it never broke for me. I might have been the lucky one or maybe it is because I don't use it often but it never broke down on me. I also took care of it well which might have helped the cause.
