I really hate exclusives

I'm constantly getting bummed out that some of the great releases of today are most of the time exclusives. Don't get me wrong I understand why they do it but wouldn't it be great if instead of having a game exclusively made for a console forever, those exclusives can be ported to other consoles after a certain period of time? Like for example, Brutal Legend was a console exclusive back when it was released in 2009 and just so recently, they released a PC port of the game. What I'm saying is, let's say The Last of Us was released for the PS3 and PS4 and after 5 years of being exclusively available for the PS, they would release the Xbox and PC ports. Who's with me on this?

I prefer PC exclusives if anything is going to be exclusive.. atleast PC's have infinite backwards compatibility.

Yeah, i hate exclusives. I think every game should be released on everything, consoles and PC. I've always wanted to play Red Dead Redemption because i love western games, but i still haven't been able to play it. Same thing with Uncharted. It's a real turn off.

I don't mind exclusives. They really help push hardware sales, and the more consoles we can get in people's homes the better.

I don't mind always having a 3DS and a Vita in my backpack, it doesn't bother me that I need to buy a Wii U eventually..

Yeah that's pretty much the idea for exclusives. I'm not really suggesting that they drop the concept of exclusives altogether, I guess the best thing would console exclusive characters or conditions stuff like that. But I do love the notion of having a lot of consoles to choose from, I'd hate to see the gaming industry being monopolized. That would be a bad idea.

Yeah it's a real bummer. I don't mind much if I had to wait 5 to 10 years just to play the exclusives, I just need to play them. Another idea I have is, why not release all the exclusive games on the last gen multi platform whenever a new generation of consoles arrives? That sounds to be fair enough right?

Yes, i guess that's fair. I don't know if i already mentioned this, but i think Sony and Microsoft are just trying to make PC gamers suffer for not buying their consoles. The smart thing to do is to own both, console and PC, but some of us just don't have the cash.

Yeah I think it's really the best deal for both parties. But I guess you're right, Sony and MS are just on for the money. I would want to own every console but I think there's really not that much games for each console that's really worth it, you know what I mean, that's why I'm still sticking with my PC for the mean time. I think I'll get the current gen consoles maybe two more years, or until I see a really must have game. Maybe I'll get a Wii-U instead I don't know LOL

As much as well all hate exclusives, we know that this trend will continue forver. The whole idea around buying consoles starts from great exclusives that you can't play on anything else.

Exclusives are a decent way of bumping up console sales but unfortunately all it does is harm an awful lot of those who actually play the game in the first place – the consumer. It's a strange business 'backwards mentality' which may improve relations with either console maker of whom the deal is with, but damages their reputation with those who end up missing out.

Personally, I'm not fond of exclusives. Timed exclusives I can probably understand to a degree but if that time can be scaled in years rather than months – then I don't look favourably on those either. If I had my way, a new game would be launched on all the major consoles at the same time. The only exception to this would be if the console couldn't physically cope with the game. Everyone benefits then – both console manufacturers, the gamers and the developers/producers who'll end up with more revenue from the outset, rather than 'throwing all their eggs in one basket' as such. The business of 'exclusives' really is bizarre.

At the end of the day, it's all about greasing the palms of the developers and producers. It's not about the gamer and it hasn't been for many years. We're most definitely at the bottom of the list of people to impress, especially when it comes to long-established titles.

Just keep upgrading your PC. Buying old consoles are not worth it. I remember i really wanted to play Max Payne 2 on the Playstation 2- but i couldn't because i didn't have the money for the console and i still didn't have a PC powerful enough to play it. I remembered that not too long ago- and when i finally played it- i couldn't enjoy it because it looked and felt so old. I waited too long i guess. In a couple of years, Playstation 3 games will feel and look just the same as Max Payne 2.

I wouldn't hate them if they came to PS4. Sadly, Sony Computer Entertainment has a different approach

I have actually no idea why exclusives exist. They're just annoying and all in all the company loses profit. PS3 only? There goes millions of XBox players. XBox only? Well there goes all your PSN profit...
