Is it possible to change the controller's battery?

The 1000mAh rechargeable battery is too weak, I was wondering if it's possible to change it into something higher. I did it with the DS3 and it worked so does anyone have any info on this?

Must be able too as if you check ebay there are 2000mah batteries available for the DS4 from HongKong sellers.
However its another thing if these are really 2000mah or not.

Or you could just open it up and cut the wire to the dumb LED, I'm planning on this later in the week when I get a spare DS4 to experiment with. I may pick up a battery now you mention it, I'll let you know if they are actually 2000mah and whether they work or not.

I'm not into messing with the circuitry since I'm no tech junkie. I'm scared that cutting wires might mess up the controller since I only have one controller at the moment and all the stores here are out of stock. I might look into ebay as well to see if the batteries are real.

You would have to do an experiment or possibly find it on youtube. You'll have to know how it's wired first and cutting the cord to the LED light might be a good idea but at teh same time, who knows wth is connected to what. Dismantling a 60 dollar controller is something I wouldn't do.

There is no wire to cut to disable the leds for the light bar...They are smd(surface mounted). I know because I have disassembled my controller for a scuf mod. there is a ribbon cable that connects the leds to the main board for power, BUT it also connect the micro usb port on the front of the controller to the mainboard. If you cut or remove this ribbon cable you wont be able to charge or sync your controller with your system using the included cord. If you know anything about leds, they draw VERY little current and will have a minimal impact on battery life, especially with only 6 of them. may i suggest disabling the rumble motors...those will be more drain on the battery than the leds.

If you look on youtube, there is a blackberry battery with approximately the same dimensions but a higher Ah rating.

If you are planning on buying the ps4 camera you don't want to disable the LEDs on the controller. The color of the LEDs in one way the camera communicates with the controller.

It's cool, I'd thought of that already. Just get another controller on deck.

I've not had a chance to do anything yet, my PS4 has stayed in one piece so far! I have big plans but they're unproven and in some cases impossible, disabling the LED physically being one of them. No point looking at iFixit or anything in the meantime, I like to learn myself.
