Lets be honest

... I don't think PSN itself will crash only the servers to the game...
Yes,that what I meant. Its not PSN exactly, its any possible servers to any particular game.
And dont forget, not all have dedicated servers, its P2P hosting like CoD has been.
Even Ghosts was said to have dedicated servers on PS4 before it launched but It think it was very very minimal,it was still mostly P2P.
I think CoD AW will be the same. Unlike the BF games.

I'm glad i'm not the only one who has the same amount of trouble trying to get to the store like you. For me it's the same about 4 in every 10 goes. Are you based in the Uk?

The "something" quantic dream is working on is a HD remake of Beyond, 2 souls. I sighed out loud when i found out about this as i rolled my eyes and went, ANOTHER HD remake. HD remakes still in the worked being made for PS4 are Journey, Ratchet and Clank, and couple more. I'm bored of these reamkes. I thought Quantic Dream were working on the Dark Soucerer. It's the trialer that have on the PS3 game Beyond.

Now i know the sales of the PS4 have totally outrstripped the Xb1, and the next question is a little delicate, but again would appreciate your honesty.

Do you now regret getting PS4 when looking at the wonderful games the XB1 has now got, and shortly getting. ? Are you envious of the quality games the Xb1 has ?

I have to admit, for me, i don't regret buying the PS4, but i have to say the Xb1 has made me a beliver of next gen, not the PS4. Also right now i wouldn't recomend a PS4 to someone who owns a PS3 and is looking to upgrade, as i don't think they are missing much at all, and looking at the games horizon, until Uncharted 4, nothing between then and now to get one, and the servcies on the PS3 still outweigh by far what's working on the PS4.

If someone WAS looking to upgrade, i hate to say it but i'd recomend the XB1 over the PS4 right now. The PS4 is a capable machine, but lack of interesting software and so so network, is pulling it down IMO

On a SIDE note though and credit to SONY for this, the PS Vita, IMO is becoming a MUST have item. The amount of quality games, and services you can use on this machine is quite frankly astounding, and it all works perfectly. I'd recomend someone to get a Vita that's for sure. :)

I'm based in Australia.... I'm not sure if it's a software issue or a hardware issue... It's pretty annoying, but I don't have any problems with the game play... Just constant lag when going through apps and the YouTube app sometimes doesn't work when streaming from the iPhone....
The console is beautiful otherwise... But with 2.0 things seem to be slightly better... But most games get disconnected

What time of day are you encountering these problems?

I primarily play at night, after 8pm EST, and have never had a problem getting on. I have no problems getting into the store, nor using the new youtube app.

As for servers. Activision has their own servers for COD, and they are usually not dedicated servers. COD is a P2P game with one person hosting the other in the lobby. Seems like Driveclub is using Sony's own servers, and they are fully dedicated servers.

I am in NJ with 105Mbs internet and have yet to have any problems at all with PSN, apps or playing games.

I also have the Xbox One and no problems with that either except all the stupid updates all the time.

To be honest i'm having to problems with any PSN related stuff. The store always opens and all of the online apps and games work fine. Maybe it's only affecting some machines. Could using a LAN cable make any difference. Right now that's what i'm using.

Hey Captain, good thread. Going way back to your first question concerning the stability of PSN, the one thing I would mention is the PS Now seems to be doing well, stability-wise. Everyone I know who has used it, and even the posts about it here on the forum, indicate that it runs smoothly with minimal lag. (I haven't used it myself so I can't verify.) My point is that the knowledge of good networking solutions is already there at the company. If the PS Now guys can do it, surely the PSN guys can. It's possible I'm comparing apples to bananas, networking is not my specialty, but the success of PS Now functionality gives me hope. I'm not ready to raise the white flag yet.

As for games, I'm a guy who left Xbox for Playstation, and I haven't been disappointed at all. I get that you're irritated with all the HD remakes, but for me, it's all gravy. I was concerned about console exclusives when my Xbox360 was my only console, but now I finally get to play all those games you guys finished years ago. In 1080! That is not a bad thing as you suggest, but rather a very, very good thing.

Concerning MS vs PS exclusivity, I don't think exclusives are as important as they used to be. "The exclusive game sells the console" was the way it used to be, but now it's "what console do my friends have?" And with twice as many PS4s out in the wild as XB1s, the PS4 is likely to win that argument.

(As a final aside, I have a 10Mbps connection in Florida, and the only times I had trouble with the store was the day Destiny came out and that DDOS attack awhile back. The Youtube app works great for me and the ps4 has quickly become my main place for Youtube videos. I was surprised and disheartened to see in your first post that it doesn't work the same for you.)

good post chap ^^

You can't argue with those points you raised. Like i said we are all different and it's great to see your a happy camper with the PS4 service your getting and games. Nothing wrong with that at all :)

Regards to the PSN it is becoming clear from this thread that things don't work as well in the UK as they do in the states or even austrailia, which is unfortunate. The stronghold for the playstation ahas always been the Europe market, and it's a shame we don't have the server power to reflect this :(

Think i said it in the OP, the actual console is awsome, not got a proble with that at all, it's just for me the lack of exlcusive games and network letting it down here in the Uk, especially compared to the XB1.

Same here. Except when something goes wrong and Cablevision takes their sweet time coming out to fix it.

I do agree that Sony had better reveal some new exclusives soon. Would love to see a God of War game for the PS4. That would be delicious!

I would also love to see God of War for the PS4!!! Great series IMO.

Also I have not had that many problems with PSN except i got disconnected a few times on the release of CoD: Advanced Warfare and my youtube app works for me! I am also looking forward to PS4 exclusives and cross platform games due to come out in the next 6 months. (GTA5, The Crew, Final Fantasy, UC4, etc..)

I found this article on Gamespot which seems relevant to this conversation. The main thing is that at this time MS has sold 10 million XB1s and Sony has sold 13.5 million PS4s. It's not parity, but there definitely aren't twice as many PS4s out there as I said in my previous post. Microsoft couldn't have picked a better time for a price drop; this might be a good holiday season for them after all.

That 10 million for Xbox One are units shipped to retailers and not actual sales. PS4 is actual sales. So.......?

This is true. Sony only reports the number of units sold to consumers. Xbox reports the number of unit that are shipped to retailers. To be fair, most retails only order what they plan to sell within a week or two.

Hmm, the article doesn't state that the Sony numbers are measuring something different than the Microsoft numbers, but I'll take your word for it.

The MS exec quote is "Shortly, we will have sold in to retailers more than 10 million Xbox One consoles." So if "sold" and "sold in to retailers" means different things, what are we supposed to take away from this? Except that something as simple as counting has become spin material.

what are we supposed to take away from this? .

simply that the XB1 isn't as bad as people have made it out to be and on the back of the quality exclsive games is gaining ground on SONY. As a duel console owner myself, this is exactly how i feel about it too.

PS4 is the better console, the Xb1 has the better games. I don't mean that to sound flaming just how i feel about the exclusives released so far.

Things will change back towards sony the nearer we get to UNCHARTED baby :) ( god i can't wait for that game )

I own both systems too, but the Xbox One had to drop the Kinect something at release they were touting and said it would never do, throw everything and anything at us with updates all the time and have a 12.5% price cut as well as offer free games just to get people to buy it.

I would not exactly call that "success" more like desperation. As soon as Sony matches it with a price cut, as we all know they will, sales will go back to what they were.

No doubt MS have backtracked on a lot of things they wanted to do in retrospect, but hey at least they have tried to please the gamers and looks to me like they have done it.

A very good point. Unfortunately I've lost most of the few genuine friends I had since leaving school. They've either moved away, got young families now or in the case of a couple, simply vanished without any trace. I'm only still in semi-regular touch with two of them these days and sadly, they both own XBox One's (both former Playstation owners). However as someone who has yet to do any of this online gaming business, this doesn't bother me. I'm very much a 'single player' person. I always have been.

The only exclusive which will hurt me will be the next Tomb Raider game. It's one of my 'signature' games. By that I mean the type of series which you've played since day one, done them all without fail e.t.c... Seeing that go to the XBox for a certain amount of time will upset me, especially given how much longer the Playstation has been around for and effectively gave the series it's popularity... I'm still angry about that. However like other exclusives that I have no access to but fancy seeing in at least some part - there's always YouTube.

I've also come to the conclusion in recent months at the the Xbox One has the better games whilst the PS4 is the better overall console. It really is a pity that Sony wasn't more prepared when it come to the game front. I have little doubt, even though they're ahead in terms of sales, that this has pegged them back and will continue to peg them back early on into next year at least.

Still without owning a 'next gen' (I really hate that phrase...) console, have I been tempted to move over to Microsoft? I'd be lying if I said I hadn't at least thought about it. I have. I'll happily hold my hands up and admit it. However given I have virtually no friends (those two I mention are becoming more and more distant themselves), I don't see why I should abandon Sony for them. I've been perfectly happy with them over the years and even though the PS4 has been a slow-starter in terms of games, I still have confidence that they can turn this around over the next 18 months.

You shouldn't abandon sony. I actually had a similar problem where I was gonna trade the ps4 for a xbone because thats what everyone I know has. After some time thinking about it, I just couldn't do it. Xbox has the best exclusives rigot now IF you like halo, titanfall, or Forza ( the only one I'd be interested in) but Sony has better hardware and has some great games on the way. I would have been upset with trading the ps4 away when The Order comes out and then not being able to play the next uncharted game would have been agonizing. Stick with the ps4, our exclusives are coming and they are sure to be awesome
