Mario on Ps4

I don't see Nintendo and Microsoft teaming up on a console. It would benefit Microsoft given that they tend to bring up the rear hardcore in Japan compared to Sony and Nintendo who tend to take turns. It would be good for Nintendo to stabilize things in the US.

Microsoft selling off Xbox or just axing it is more likely than seeing Mario, Zelda, Kirby, Star Fox, Metroid, etc. on PS4. It would be a huge boon for Sony given they need more weight on titles for all audiences and titles that could be put out there and draw in people of all ages easily, something teen and mature games can't do (since they target specific age demographics).

Now if Nintendo did put their games out, it would likely be in cooperation with Sony.

No, I like my Nintendoables on Nintendo platforms.

Though if Nintendo did go multiplatform then I would prefer them to develop for Sony than Microsoft so that they don't lose out on the Japanese culture.

I strongly prefer this too. Nintendo's first party titles are made particularly for Nintendo consoles. It's why they make unique controls and gameplay that make the games and consoles one. Nintendo stuff on PlayStation would be...better than being on Xbox, but it wouldn't have that distinctly Nintendo vibe. PlayStation's games play largely the same controller-wise since they first appeared on either PS1 or PS2. That doesn't work for Nintendo unless they're just putting out 2D games.

mario is own by nintendo, and mario is pretty much what keeps nintendo selling good (not only but big parts)...

So mario on ps4 would be
1. Sony buys nintendo or the rights to make a mario (not going to happen)
2. We get the ps4 hacked so we can run emulators... Will take a while

If Nintendo was on it's death knell I could see games on PS4. Not Microsoft...although as SpaceTiger said Nintendo's stuff would help it actually break into Japan.

I actually think it would be better to play Mario with the comfort of the dual shock.

Dualshock controllers do pretty much use the SNES button layout (as does the Xbox controllers which even uses the button color scheme and shifted them over) so it could work. It would be uninspired, but it could work.

Lets just pretend the WII U is a terrible failure and the Xbone bombs and Sony wins the console war 3 to 1 over Microsoft. Would it not be conceivable for Microsoft and Nintendo to consider a joint console?

If the Wii U was a catastrophic failure and just vampire feasted the bank roll Nintendo has that would allow them to fail in sales for at least 9 more generations of consoles--since Nintendo just makes games unlike Sony and Microsoft who are spread thin across everything and are likely to cut their loses in entertainment wings--I'd say no, it's not likely they'd join Microsoft in doing a console. They'd go 2nd party with Sony.

Or do a joint console with Sega...but joint consoles never pan out, really. Look at Apple and Bandai:

I never get tired of posting that console. That controller is a boomerang...and had a trackball. At least it kept the SNES layout buttons and color scheme.

"That thing" is right. The console part there's nothing particularly wrong with. It's a design that could've been used for any console...but that controller. You know like your hands are slippery you can hold on to most conventional controllers and not drop it? That's not one of those controllers lol

I show this part to my girlfriend and she said we'd sign up for two. Nintendo Mega System, Super Genesis, Mega Nintendo, Dreamcube, Wiicast, Super Mega Drive, Super Saturn, Sonic RPG: Legend of the 7 Chaos Emeralds (there's always 7...7 stars, 7 dragon balls, etc), the Super Mario & Wario add-on pack for Super Mario World so you can play as Wario.

Playing with Power...playing with MEGA POWER.

That's a great idea from you, but it's never going to happen!
I know there's a lot of people (like me) who would like to play a game like that, but no way. :(

I don't remember that being a thing. Although that could just mean that I was lucky in my life. As to the original question, there is no way unless someone stole all of their money that Nintendo would allow their ips to appear on the PS4 or Xbox One. If anything Nintendo is the one who is more than likely going to survive. Sony is hemmorraging money at this point and while I hope they don't I could see the company dumping the Playstation in a bid to stay afloat if things don't turned around soon. I believe the same goes for Microsoft. The thing is that when we talk about the PS or Xbox we forget that they are smaller divisions of much larger companies and are tied to those companies fates.

I couldn't disagree with you more. I think playstation is doing much better then Nintendo. I don't remember the wiiU having such a build up for its launch.

Imagine if Nintendo and Microsoft created a console using the WORST of each company. Can you imagine trying to play Super Smash Brothers on Microsoft hardware with friend codes, and a red ring of death on about half the release

Playstation is doing better in sales, but it's part of a company that spreads itself thinly across different divisions and such--like Microsoft. While Sony makes most of its money from insurance, if they continued to lose money in electronics to the point that their profits in insurance have to go more to plugging up that hole, they're likely to sell off some stuff or close up shop for certain products.

With Microsoft, Xbox and some other products were losing money, but were propped up by money Microsoft were owed by Google from Android. They also have other things going on--smartphones, etc. If the new guy coming in wants to steer Microsoft back exclusively to making software and focus purely on that, stuff could get dropped easily.

Nintendo focuses on games--hardware and software development. That's their main thing with some side stuff like gaming related concerts. They're not really spread thin since they keep things in one general industry/area. If Nintendo goes into...making their own smartphones, TVs, so on then there might be concern, but I doubt they'd ditch gaming.

...actually Nintendo could probably go back to owning Love Hotels or do like Hello Kitty and loan their brand to marital aids. Whatever.

I'd love a Mario game on the PS4 -but we do have a Wii U here I could, and DO, play Mario on. My kids love Mario 3d Worlds. Mario did help bring the gaming industry out of a crash in the mid 80's he does deserve respect.
