In general terms, the new app allows you to take the PlayStation experience with you when you’re away from your console. You can stay in touch with, friends, compare trophies, view friends’ activity (including recorded or live-streamed gameplay on PS4) and access all the latest PlayStation Blog news.

Sounds good,so not only the remote download thing but also send text AND voice message from your smartphone to your PSN friends on PS4.
Some games will also use it as a second screen.
I look forward to seeing this one.

Sweet, I can see the Playstation App being used to mostly talk to your friends on Playstation like your texting. I also think when I use this app it will feel somewhat like Skype, and I will probably use it like Skype. Also, it will a useful way of typing to a friend, or searching games and other things, instead of using the dualshock and selecting letters on screen, especially if I have a keyboard attached to my device.

Wow that's awesome. So, basically all of your friends will be located within this application, right? They've gone far when it comes to technology. I won't be surprised when 10 years from now you will be able to play any PlayStation game on your iPhone or any other smartphone device. Of course, they are already doing this but it's not with PlayStation.

I'm glad to see that these companies are innovating far beyond what is expected from gaming consoles, as I understand that the product needs to evolve and adapt to stay relevant. I am personally just a simple & casual gamer though, so as much as these will be a fun thing to discover for me, I don't think I'll be using these features much.

Sweet news, it would be awesome to manage the console from an app, or even get a game going while you were going home, "oh a new DLC pack came out, let me download it asap so I can enjoy it when I arrive home", this has awesome all over it.

Wow, that is great and I must say that it is a brilliant add on for gamer. The mobile App is supported on all platforms, Android, Windows phone and of course iOS. It will be interesting to use this app.

Funny, this is the first time i hear about this, but i would guess that is basically the same as the Steam app? You can pretty much purchase, check your account settings and chat with friends all in it, right?

The question is, is it safe?

Something I was doing for ~2 years with Steam.

Great to see the peasants are finally catching up with the PCs... from 2010.

I also like to see collaboration like this as well. It will be cool to be able to utilize features of Playstation Network while on the go. I mean that's a great feature in my opinion, it saves tons of time. Having to get on the internet and go through stressful logging in.
