Most Violent Game

Manhunt and Tenchu 3. I just love the sight of Carcer City Police officers being murdered by Cash as well as the "rent-a-cops" in Tenchu 3's Through the Portal mission being killed by Rikimaru.

Oh man, I forgot about Manhunt. Yeah, that one takes the cake. I remember getting too scared to play all the way through it, I felt like I was walking on pins and needles the whole time.

A game would have to really bloody to have you on pins and needles!

I'm sure Manhunt was made just for the sake of being controversial :p

In recent times the fatalities on Mortal Kombat have been grim, again, just being controversial for the sake of it.

The one with the woman and the buzz-saw.. ouch.

Obvious answer for this one: Manhunt.
If you played it, you know it. I did and it was just...brutal. You can search for it on youtube, there's lots of videos about it, also take in mind the time when it was released, people were not used to violence in video games so the game was banned in a couple countries.

I remember there was this one game where you're a guy that was trying to break out of a prison, or was it an asylum. Whenever, you're injured you inject some kind of drug. That game was pretty brutal and horrifying to me when I first played it. I forgot the name of the game. It had demonic elements and had an inferior sequel.

Was it The Suffering?

Wow, I've never even heard of Manhunt before this thread. I'll be checking it out as it is very interesting that something gets as much common consensus as this. That said, I'd pick GTA just because of the amount of things you could do including shooting hookers and throwing molotovs at cops, although the older versions surely pale in comparison to the newer more realistic ones of course.

I have to agree with the bulk of this thread, Manhunt was really gory. GTA and Mortal Kombat's violence is expected and over the top like 99% of the time, but something subtle as using a plastic bag to suffocate someone is pretty intense.

Mortal Kombat isn't exactly known for being outside these kinds of discussions. Although the quality in the franchise dipped when they programmed the PS2/Xbox generation onto the third axis, they still kept the violent spirit alive.

Mortal Kombat is on my list, but it's like over the top graphic violence. I agree with the Manhunt mentions.

There was a period where the quality of the series dropped. It was only a matter of time since there was only so much they could do with MK before having to reboot.

The cool thing about MK though was that it just enough lore to warrant rebooting the whole thing and rewrite the lore. Street Fighter just has to keep going. If Capcom said "We're rebooting Street Fighter." It would be like "Why? Street Fighter has a concrete story worth following?"
