Hello everybody
So for the first time since owning an original xbox I have just dived in and bought myself a nice new white PS4 from amazon.co.jp (so much cheaper than the UK!).
I have just moved to Japan for two years, and after that I will be moving back to the UK.
So my question is basically should I have a Japanese or UK PSN account? I am not really sure what it is for or what the implications are for my next two years in Japan before I move back to the UK.
I will obviously hope to take the PS4 back to the UK with me, assuming of course it has not become redundant by then, but thats a separate topic I guess!
So firstly; voltage. I understand the PS4 is indeed dual voltage even though on the box it says different. ie it will at least work in the UK.
Furthermore I understand that although the PS4 is region encoded, the games are not. DVDs are, but this is changeable like DVD computer drives, however I am not sure about blue-ray playback regions and if you can change this like the DVD region?
So in conclusion my Japanese PS4 will work in the UK and I can play my games bought here and watch UK DVDs when I go back. BR movies it is unsure.
So to the PSN/PS+ account. The games I have bought are Metal Gear Solid V, Battlefield 4 premium edition, and GTA V which is not released here until next week. The 2 games I have now both state on the back that they are "FOR JAPAN ONLY" and region 2. (Even this region 2 confuses me some, as apparently the discs are indeed blue-ray, but yet Japan is in region 1 not 2. But it is in DVD region 2!)
Anybody know exactly the implications for this statement "FOR JAPAN ONLY"?
And as I understand it the downloadable content will only be available to me if I have a Japanese PSN or PS+ account?
Furthermore is it also true that once downloaded I can switch to a UK account and then play the dowloaded content etc from there on?
Most of you can see I have read and understood quite a bit from other threads, but I guess the thing I don't still really understand is what implications there are for me to under which PSN account I play the games. Why is this important, or is it not?
Sorry just realised that's quite an essay above haha!
Thanks in advance for your help. :Onya
