Open world Sandbox levels, you say?

I must say, as someone who only played Killzone 2 and only mildly enjoyed it, the brief snippet in Game Informer made this sound more interesting to me and a potential buy for my PS4. I just hope they better the story, because I always liked the background, but in 2 it wasn't really portrayed at all :/

Yes, it's going to be awesome, but it's not a open-world game. You will get segments with some really huge areas to explore, but that's just it.

It seems like they're adding a lot of logical improvements compared to the previous games. I have confidence that it will be cool, but it's shaping up to be cooler than I would have even first expected. Something makes me think there are a few additional features we haven't even seen yet. I'm definitely excited for where this series goes.

I don't think open-world is the correct phrase. Sandbox, sure, but not open-world, it's more about giving you options to approach the situation however you want. It's most likely more comparable to larger, open areas in the Halo series, though with more options available obviously. Open-world insinuates that the game isn't linear and it most definitely is linear.

Ah this is exciting news! I love the Killzone series and this just makes it so much more exciting! At least it is more exciting from a game play element. I just hope that they do something about the story. It was so great on PS2 but moving to PS3 they kind of gave up on the story a little bit.

I don't really need a completely open world, since more often than they don't fully deliver. Not every game can be The Witcher 2 or insert Rock Star title here. And open worlds can be overrated since a lot of devs cut corners. I'd prefer it if it was just sandbox.

This is true, but it depends how linear the story is. If it is a very in-depth, very linear story then open world may not be the way to go. If you have the free will to follow the story as you please like GTA then I could see it working.
