Playstation 4 & Xbox One Launch Comparison

Microsoft has stated that the Xbox One sold over 1 Million units in less than 24 hours. The only difference is that Sony sold 1 Million Playstation 4's in just the United States alone, while Xbox One sold 1 Million across the entire world. When you compare the two, Playstation 4 sales are the most impressive and will continue to grow as it is launched to other parts of the world. Only time will tell in PS vs XB sales war but fans of Sony Playstation will be pleased that Playstation 4 sold more in one country than world wide. Post your thoughts below!

Of course what CpmPanda is trying to say is Sony sold 1 million in North America and Not the US alone. So now instead of using both hands to pat yourselves on the back you can use one of them to thank the rest of North America .

That's true. Sony sold their consoles in the US and Canada, while Microsoft released the Xbox One worldwide so technically the PS4 release was more impressive. So Sony should be pretty pleased with themselves, but it's still so early in the launch of both consoles that we won't be able to tell which one did better until we're at least 6 months in.

Yeah, "worldwide" with the exception of half of Europe. Still, the PS4's sales are soaring sky high right now, and it's for a reason.

Did half of Europe really get left out of the Xbox One sales? I wonder why that is. Anyway if we count all the facts then yes, Sony had the better launch but there is no definitive 'winner' not until we get further into the next year. Maybe halfway through 2014 we'll be able to tell which console really should more, though smart money is on the PS4.

It seems to me like the speculations are turning out to be true that the PS4 is more sought after. Don't get me wrong, the Xbox sales are far from abysmal, but a near-worldwide release should have gotten more attention for such a sought after device, in my opinion. It's still too early to tell, though, in my opinion. Xbox could just turn out to be a "creeper" type of winner, but I'm really skeptical.

We won't know anything until both consoles are out for at least 6 months and we really get an idea of what the sales are. We can't judge anything until the PS4 has been completely launched and the Xbox One builds up more steam because as much as I prefer the PS4, I can't believe that Microsoft isn't going to increase their sales.

Sony selling more benefits you and I by them having more money to put into R and D and game developers to provide us with exculsives.

Really, I think that it's a way for the hardcore fanboys to proclaim victory but what do they win? It might teach Microsoft a lesson, and prevent them from making the same mistakes the next console cycle but I want there to be 3 viable consoles. So Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft have to all succeed for that to happen. I'm not sure what fanboys get out of it, you don't get a share in the profits, you weren't in development so no bragging rights.

Both made roughly the same number of units prior to launch, all those stocked units will probably be completely drained by the end of the month. it was just a matter of where those units went. Effectively it's been a tie so far.

well, i think sony as a smart company is going to do that first anyway. All these extra sales are just padding ceo wallets. Thats cool and everything, im all for profit and earning more money. With that said ill leave it to them to discuss numbers since its not padding MY wallet

From what I here (from unbiased sources), PS4 is indeed selling faster than the XOne. But yeah, I am pretty sure both will end up being sold out, Sony may just get there a little faster. So, it hasn't been a tie so far but the difference isn't exactly earth shattering.

I'm sure that true. Though both consoles are going to do incredibly well it's pretty obvious that Sony is going to get there first simply due to the rate of their sales. That being said, the Xbox One is right behind the PS4 so obviously things have been improving for Microsoft. The real difference is going to be in the exclusives as it should be.

Honestly, I hope that BOTH companies do well because both of them have really out did themselves with the new console they both have.

But for some reason, this reminded me of the release of PS3 and Xbox 360, due to the amount of competition both of them have against each other.

But in my opinion, PS4 BEATS ALL!

I also believe that the PS4 is better simply because I like the look of it and it's user interface better. I also believe that in the long run the PS4 library will be better. However everyone whose a true gamer wants all three consoles to do well so that we have a thriving industry, that doesn't mean that you don't want your favorite console to do well.

I might be wrong, but I think it benefits us by getting more developers interested in the particular console we decided to purchase. If Sony sells a lot more PS4s, then game developers will flock to it hoping to profit, and that means more games for us.

Well that is very significant considering that Sony is a much more popular console in Japan than Microsoft. So that only leaves more room for the PS$ to outsell the XBox One.

I was reading on one website (don't remember which one) that with the release of both consoles, each broke certain records and that Sony broke the record of most consoles sold on launch. Its very impressive to me the amount that both sides sold. Its good to see that Sony learned from their PS3 launch mistakes and put together a much easier console to work with. I think they sold, what was it, like 200K on launch day? May have been less? With the supply issues and the high price.
