Playstatoin 3 Yellow Light of Death Fix

Ever get home from school, work, or out and about and couldn't wait to play some play station, so you run into your gaming area, turn on the PS3, and are met with the dreaded Yellow Light of Death? I've been there, and I was incredibly bummed. It took me about a year, but I've finally found a fix on how to get it working. I don't have enough posts to post any links, so I'll give a general explanation of how to get it working. This method requires taking your PS3 apart completely, so you can isolate the motherboard by itself. Generally, what you'll do is after you have isolated the motherboard, is you're going to generally "Bake" it. Placed it on a cookie tray for about 6 hours at around 350/400 Degrees and let it cool for another 2. After that, hooked it all back up, and it's worked ever since.

You'll have to Google it for better directions/tutorials, but this has been proven to work. Keep in mind that in no way do I guarantee it will work, and it was a simple solution for my problem. I am not responsible for what happens to your system if you decide to try this trick.

I have found a few tutorials, and they have definately worked very well with me. I've been able to fix the Y.L.O.D a couple of times. But I think I should replace the entire thing before it's exploded.

Not sure if op is trolling me or not. I dont see how cooking your motherboard has anything to do with fixing the problem... And I am wondering how someone came up with this method. Did they just get so upset that they cooked their motherboard. This method seems kind of fishy to me. Try it for yourself though.

I had it once, on my fat PS3. sucked so hard, but it did happen in november, so I only had to wait a month for a new christmas one, slim this time.

I have this problem but I wouldn't feel too comfortable putting my PS3's motherboard in the oven for 6 hours. Is there any other methods you would suggest?I would literally try anything else except this because restarting my console like 20 times is getting quite annoying.

I've never had the trouble of getting the YLOD so I can't understand how much it actually sucks to happen. I had my original PS3 since pretty close to launch and around last summer after I bought Future Soldier it broke. The part of the console that actually reads the discs broke so I had to wait the whole summer basically to play any games including the game I had wanted to play the day it broke. We still have the darn thing around because it still works just fine with Netflix and downloaded games, which is cool I guess.

I will never feel comfortable sticking my console in the oven, no matter how many videos tell me it will work. I'll just send it to the manufacturers if it's all the same to you!

The thing is that YLOD is caused by a connection error which can be fixed by reflowing all the solder points on the motherboard. One technique for reflowing is sticking the motherboard in the oven.

Wow really? I have never heard of baking it, but if it works then that is awesome. I think that may be a little dangerous though, but that is good you got it to work again.
