Please don't buy PS4's on Ebay

We all know that people want PS4's. And we've heard the disbturbing stories that have happened because of people trying to get their hands on the console. We've seen the outrageous prices that it's going for on Ebay. Well no season gets the desperate masses out in hordes like Christmas time, so already the prices of PS4's online has gone up, and I mean way up. If you thought $1,500 was a lot you've seen nothing yet. Just wait until we get closer to the 25th.

Ps4 prices are out of control

Wow interesting! I never thought of buying during this time because I know they are sold out in most places and I would not spend more than it's worth unless I made a deadly strong promise to a relative that I would get them it. Thanks for the heads up, I think I'll wait until it gets cheaper!

Plus, I wouldn't do craigslist either. .Who knows what will happen when you go to make the deal person to person. Too many scary stories when people where selling ipads and iphones via craigslist.

Craigslist is so 50/50...like you can make some good deals and get some nice trades, but then you have to worry about someone trying to eat your face or something.

I initially thought the price would remain at $500+ which was what bids were going for at the time I checked it a few days after the launch. I'm not a fan of people doing this, but they are free to do so on either the buying or selling side, unfortunately. :D I hope the new Walmart shipment dampens the market a bit, but I haven't heard yet if the Euro market will be getting a shipment soon.

As much as I love the PS4, I wouldn't buy it so overpriced. Ten to 15 percent is okay but 41 percent increase is just too much. If I can't get one during Christmas, I'll just wait until next year. There're too many irrational buyers nowadays.

I'm not honestly that shocked,

I know people who've paid close to £1000 just for a PS4 and you could by two for that price, plus if you added 50 you could buy three. Personally while I love the look of the console, I would actually pay that much money for a PS4.

I mean I am one of those shoppers that happen to be very vigilant when it comes to shopping on eBay. eBay is one of the easiest sites online to get scammed on, that is why you must be careful about what you try to buy on there.

You can usually tell which eBay merchants depend in part on their storefront sales and wouldn't jeopardize a bad reputation by scamming people. You go with those merchants. People who just started on eBay within the last month and are selling PS4s are the ones you avoid.

Same with Craigslist.

That's pretty crazy! But since Christmas is very close, I understand the situation, people will pay a lot more.
But I won't, I can wait. :)

Dang, the measures people will go to for things. I personally would buy such items for outrageous prices. People need to learn about patience.

This is somewhat hilarious, to be honest. It is not so much the desperation of certain people in a frantic effort to get their hands on a console before it is out of stock, but those people who prey on this weakness in their effort to make the greatest amount of profit possible, no doubt after ordering a few consoles of their own to help said stock along its journey of emptying itself. After everything that has been going on, with scams, robberies and the like over these consoles...It may just be better to wait.

Well said Nymph. I would never spend this much when I can just wait for another shipment and get it at retail. Besides, the next shipment I'm sure will be the first week in January. By February, the market will stabilize. I can wait till then. Besides, I'm backlogged on games to keep me busy till then anyway :)

It depends on the seller but the closer that we get to the 25th the higher the prices on ebay gets. And some people are desperate enough to pay those prices. I haven't seen anything too ridiculous yet but if you check the highest prices than you'll see some outrageous there is no way the average person can afford it prices. Some are for charity and others are just because I guess at almost $100,000.

When I saw some of them put up at $900 and $1000+ I shook my head. It's like...plays games, music, and movies/shows--it doesn't have a fryer, waffle maker, waterproof, fireproof, bulletproof, or any of that extra stuff that would warrant the outrageous price.

all the ps4s ive seen selling on ebay are barely selling for enough to cover the cost of the console, sales tax, ebay and paypal fees. i sure thought they would be selling for more.

It's hilarious to see how much people are selling the console for. No one is that desperate when almost every week some retail store is coming out and announcing that they have a surprise shipment of PS4's. I don't understand anyone who is tempted to buy PS4's for those rates. Though we can't count out people who are desperate there are plenty of PS4's on the site for reasonable prices still. But you still have to watch yourself and check the seller. Just because you pay a regular price doesn't mean you can't get scammed.
