Pocketstation Comes Back

Like the title says, the Pocketstation is coming back, although I'm not exactly sure anyone was asking for it. Probably, it was popular in Japan, and I think they are just releasing it there, but I'm sure there are fans of it in the other countries as well. I never got one or even knew about it until last year when I saw a video featuring it, and I found it underwhelming to say the least, but that's just me.

Anyone here fans of the Pocketstation? Are you hyped for this?

According the news article linked above,

The PocketStation is a memory card micro-console for the original PlayStation console. It featured a monochrome LCD, infrared ports, clock, built-in flash memory, five face buttons and audio. The device supported multiplayer functionality via its infrared capabilities, which also allowed users to transfer data such as game saves between devices.

Based on what I understood, I think it's more of a data-management service which also gives you the power to connect online? What games used this functionality?

Reminds me of the Dreamcast VMU. Although I never saw the Pocketstation.

Geez. It's just a memory card with a very small screen wherein you could play Tamagochi-like games and it was for the PS1. Maybe they're planning on reviving the PS1 too? I don't know what they're cooking but as of the moment, I think it's bound to fail.

I think they are only releasing it in Japan, it might be more beloved there, so it might do alright.
