Project Cars claimed by the devs 'Slightly Mad' as the most "technically advanced racing game on the planet," coming to Xbox One, PS4, Wii U, and PC.

Slightly Mad Studios (Need for Speed: Shift, World of Speed) today released a new trailer for Project Cars, their upcoming racing game that the studio describes as the "most authentic, beautiful, and technically advanced racing game on the planet."

It is due to launch this November for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, Steam OS, and Wii U. The impressive trailer is made up of in-game footage, Slightly Mad says, though it's not clear which platform the footage was captured on.

Featuring world-class graphics and handling, a ground-breaking dynamic time of day & weather system, and deep tuning & pit stop functionality, Project Cars leaves the competition behind in the dust," the developer says.

I'm looking forward to this game. I do like good racing titles and from what clips there are of this out there at the moment, it looks the part too. However once again, I always rate gameplay ahead of graphics. I'd rather have something that looks a few years out of date if it provides 100+ hours worth of gameplay over something that's ultra modern which only offers half of that.

Looking at the game website - I've just seen it's also compatible with the Oculus Rift. If it turns out to be as impressive as it sounds, we could very well be looking at one of the best driving/racing simulators in a generation. Does anyone know how much the Rift is at the moment…? I'm not even sure if I've seen any here in the UK… I bet you they're pricy…

I only have one reservation though. It seems to be predominantly focused on track and stripped out race cars – rather than the standard factory models. The latter do appeal to me more.

It's a pity it's been delayed, but it comes as little surprise. It seems to be a running theme with new games (particularly where Sony is concerned) as of late… When it comes to 'just before' Christmas releases, it's more or less mandatory that games coming under this category are delayed into the New Year. It's been that way for 12/15 years now…
