PS 4 Doesn't Support Blue Tooth Headsets...

The article mentions that its a backwards step, but it doesn't really talk about why they are doing it. Moreover, Sony really hasn't said why they aren't doing it. I usually just stick with wireless headsets, but I do have friends who use blue tooth head sets and that's going to be annoying for them. Worse things in life, just didn't think it was on here yet.

Yeah,odd I think.
So any bluetooth chat headsets people are using for their PS3 wont on PS4 at all it seems. :(

I have a few but most of the time I use a wired surround gaming headset,it uses the optical out from PS3 for game sound and USB for chat.
But we'll have to wait for Sony to release a patch that let's a use USB ones too.

I don't understand why anyone would turn away from Bluetooth at this point. If anything, they should be working towards developing it further, especially for companies as big as Sony. I personally hate wired earbuds, and can't wait for the day when wireless ones become the standard.

Weak move by Sony. How much could it have cost to support this. The major thing 360 got wrong and Sony sort of replicates it. I totally understand the controller but having to buy headsets when I have 4 or so Bluetooth laying around stinks. Hopefully this is not a hardware thing, I believe the controllers are still bluetooth.

This is something I'm completely fine with. Go get a legit wired Turtle Beach headset or something so I can actually understand you, every single person I know who has a bluetooth headset sounds ATROCIOUS when playing online.

Wow that's terrible!!! I've used a blue-tooth headset when I play on PS3 for years! Most people don't want to spend their money on overpriced headsets made by Turtle Beach. I sure hope they regret this mistake.

I too was shocked by this announcement.
It will quickly changed, because at the moment, there are not a lot of reaction to this. But as soon as the console release, many have bad surprises.

Personally, it does not really tempt me to invest in a gaming headset right out. Anyway, we'll see what the future will tell.
I can see the hundreds of messages sent to Sony because some do not understand why as basic as Bluetooh headsets will not work function.

So in short:

1.PS4 doesnt support bluetooth headsets and at the moment no fix in sight.
2.USB headsets for chat will be support later with an update patch.
3.If you use a gaming headset that uses optical connection you can use it for game sound but not chat (yet)

I fall into the 3rd category,I usually use a wired gaming headset that connects to the PS3 optical out for game sound, but ofcourse for chat it plugs into the USB port.So at launch I can use it for game sound but not chat...

Definitely a bad move by Sony. But I think they probably have some sort of feature or new headset made by them and they're just trying to push the users to buy it more.
I don't know how to feel, since Bluetooth headsets usually have bad sound quality and it makes playing multiplayer with people who use them so hard.

That is bad but every PlayStation 4 will come with a headset right out of the box. I'm not complaining if there's an up side to this problem, besides they said that they will fix that with a patch update soon so there's only a short time that most blue tooths won't work. This is silly if you guys are going to let one frailty make you give up hope for the PS4 all together. Don't worry they're bound to fix as soon as possible.

Have you seen it? Its a cheap looking little earbud one.Id hardly call that a headset. But I guess it will do the job until the USB patch comes out and 'hopefully' if we are lucky a bluetooth headset fix.

One site said the there will be Bluetooth support for Sony's Pulse headset, but I don't know if that's accurate.

"The next-gen console will, however, support Sony’s Pulse Headset, but, again, not at launch. Sony is busy working on an update that will patch that support in."

I can't post a link because I don't have 30 posts yet. Yeah, that seems reasonable. NOT

It's from gamerant

Yeah it's weird but Sony's been pretty clear that wireless headsets won't work until the next patch which should be here or coming very soon. Though it's a strange software choice, why not just allow bluetooth headsets to work on launch? Why the hold up? I personally don't understand the decicsion.
