Ps3 games on ps4?

So basically backwards compatibility? There are rumors floating around that it won't be backwards compatible for the PS3 but it will be for some ps1 and ps2 games. If they decide it to make t BC, I would seriously be surprised. The only reason why they won't make it compatible is because of money. It's a thing companies have been craving for a lot lately.

I'm pretty sure it's confirmed that the PS4 will not play PS3 games. Not too sure about PsOne or PS2 games though.

I really don't think PS4 will have backwards compatibility. It would be really nice if they did, because then that means we don't have to hold on to two machines, but honestly I can't see it happening.

Seeing that then they couldn't charge so that you can play old games, no, they ain't going to let you play your games. Which is bad, but who isn't doing it these days?

I'm pretty sure that just like the Xbox One, the Playstation 4 will not be supporting backwards compatibility. The solution here is that Sony will be porting their classic games to the PS4, maybe giving an HD-remake and adding some glitter and glamour. I think Sony has done this before with their classics. The only thing I'm worried about is that if Sony will allow us to use rented games on the PS4 without a fee.

That kind of sucks, but I understand why it's needed. I wish it weren't though, since they aren't jumping onto a new platform (i.e. - CD to DVD, DVD to Blu-Ray, etc), but maybe there's better reasons for it that I don't know about yet like small adjustments and optimizations that might make it better but not advisable to make backwards compatible. I'm not too shaken up about it, I just hope they make up for it with an even bigger library this time and better games of course.

I've never found this to be an issue. In this day and age almost any LCD or Plasma comes with various HDMI ports so you can have both your PS3 and PS4 hooked up at the same time, so if you want to play your ps3 games just turn on the ps3.

Yeah, and there's also plenty of emulators going around so you can mess around with older platform games on your PC. I've ended up playing a few PS1/PS2 classics on my PC because I loved the game but have long since discarded the hardware.
I would personally like to be able to play my PS3 games on the PS4. I think it's a logical choice and I think a majority of the
fans would like this feature. I know many people were outraged when they heard the new Xbox One won't be able to play
Xbox 360 games. If the Wii-U can play Wii games then why can't the new PS4 as well? I know it might be tricky for Sony to
do but I think after the outrage over the Xbox One it might be a good choice to make.

As much as the fans want it, it probably won't happen. The companies want money, that's why they don't add that option. Honestly, any decision that PS4 makes whether it's feature-related or game-related, I think Sony would win. Xbox is slowly regaining its fans back like me because of their partnerships, but I think the PS4 won't have any trouble.
