Hey all you current and would be PS4 owner, Playstation Life has been pretty helpful in posting the download sizes of the current PS4 launch line-up. Of course if you already own the console this info is probably no surprise for you but for people who don't own a PS4 yet this is pretty helpful information. Especially if you're considering replacing the internal hard drive. My question is non-PS4 owners are you surprised by any of the sizes because I was by Resogun.

PS4 Games' Size

For the lazy:
Angry Birds: Star Wars – 1.5GB
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag – 21.2GB
Battlefield 4 – 33.9GB
Blacklight: Retribution – 4.9GB
Call of Duty: Ghosts – 31.3GB
Contrast – 2.3GB
DC Universe Online – 22.7GB
FIFA 14 – 9GB
Flower – 1.8GB
Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition – 22GB
Just Dance 2014 – 22GB
Killzone: Shadow Fall – 38.5GB
Knack – 35.6GB
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes – 6.4GB
Madden NFL 25 – 13.1GB
NBA 2K14 – 41.8GB
Need for Speed: Rivals – 15.9GB
Resogun – 460.8MB
Sound Shapes – 3.4GB
Super Motherload – 393.6MB
Trine 2: Complete Story – 2.6GB
Warframe – 4.2GB

Quite a few are in the 20-30GB range which is pretty big. I guess as time goes on, HDD sizes will increase exponentially (as usual) and hopefully google fiber will be available in my area :)

It think the game download sizes are pretty reasonable considering, which ones are actually over 20 gb. I think the actually games with a large story line all have great download sizes, because they are little lengthy. Games like Just Dance, have less modes, which calls for less space. I am assuming that is why NBA 2K14 has such a high amount of space needed.

The sizes are actually pretty good, but I'm wondering what's going to happen when AAA titles designed specifically for the PS4 come out. I'm pretty sure that those downloads will be huge, so it's probably in digital download fans best interest to either figure out what games they want or how to get more space. The good news is that the PS4 is pretty easy to break down from videos I've seen on youtube.

I'm genuinely amazed how Angry Birds managed to get themselves a 1.5 gig install size. What the hell did they put in that thing, 5k by 5k brick textures? Especially when you compare it to things like Trine 2 (2.6GB) or Warframe (4.2).

Warframe is pretty big and Sound Shapes is way bigger than I thought it'd be. Also I agree how is Angry Birds that big? What exactly did they put in there to deserve that much space? I mean Trine 2 makes sense when you look at game because of the graphics and Warframe is an MMO but Angry Birds? That's ridiculous. Also how is Angry Birds a thing that still exists?

More graphics than you can shake a stick at. Special effects and so on. I'm with you and dragoonblade. I'm curious as to what they did Angry Birds to warrant the size.

I'm pretty surprised at Angry Birds surpassing the file size of a couple of the other games, but admittedly I haven't seen any of those games anyway. I think the most surprising aspect of it is that it's originally a mobile game, but I assume they've tweaked it to warrant its existence on home consoles and thus having the file size it has.

Angry Birds is ridiculously big and I can't imagine what's in that game that deserves that much space. It's got to be about the graphics but seriously Angry Birds? Other than that a lot of the sizes make sense although Flower is bigger than I thought it would be and so is Sound Shapes. Other than that it all makes sense, it's just about managing your space later on with downloads.

This Angry Birds is supposed to cover the original Star Wars trilogy, but even with improved graphics for gameplay and the cutscenes it shouldn't be that much of a space hog. Look at it!

Exactly I can't imagine other than graphics baiting that Angry Birds would have any other reason to take up that much space. Sure other games on this list surprised me with how much space they were taking but its nothing like the shock that I got looking at Angry Birds. Really the size of it makes no real sense when compared to other games. This had better be the best AB ever.

You can now see which feather like a unique texture. They didn't spend any less preparing for the power of the PS4 when it comes to Angry Birds!

Still, those games are huge... if each game is at least 20gb, you will only be able to put up to 25 games on it!

That's the funny thing with Angry Birds' size. You can come up with every feature--enhanced graphics and textures, special cut scenes, multiplayer with 10s of players, orchestral music by John Williams, replays, etc--and it still wouldn't warrant that size. I'm really curious about what's going on in that game.

Well Killzone sorta fits that description. It's AAA and designed specifically for PS4. If we ever get an MGS game that is only for PS4/X1, I think that game might be huge in size. The one coming out next year is split into two parts and will be on PS3/360 as well, but since the game has a lot of audio in it, they tend to be rather large.
