PS4 loading times

I've heard that PS4 loading times are a bit to be desired. How's it going for you PS4 owners, I especially here that there is a minor issues that Music is slowing down the PS4 navigation which shouldn't be possible since Sony said that the processor is supposed to prevent that.

I haven't had a problem with loading times. Things have been pretty quick for me.

Not great and not that bad either. Pretty average... Switching to the dashboard is instant though.

The load times have been pretty solid for me when I do get a turn with it. For everyone else in the house it varies.

...I've come to the conclusion that the PS4 is aware and very persnickety about who uses it.

It's fast for me, something I'm not used to. Quick console? AWESOME. Are you downloading stuff in the background? That use to be my prob with ps3.

One of the reasons I'm still saving up for a PS4 is the quick loading times, you scared me when you said they're slow lol

I don't have the PS4 yet, but from what I've read, the console feels snappy and the loading times are really fast (Though not as fast as the X1)
I also plan to upgrade to an SSD or a 7200RPM 1TB HDD to improve the loading times.

I haven't seen slow load times up close when I use my friends but I've heard from other people that it can be a little laggy when their using Music Unlimited. And I've seen some videos on Youtube of some people observing a little slow down when they have Music Unlimited running. So it seems like that's the culprit. Hopefully Sony fixes that soon because one of the coolest things about the PS4 is that you can use music in the background.

Weird, I would definitely not call any of the loading times fast myself, why would it actually vary between consoles? Maybe I'll time the loading screens but I find myself twiddling my thumbs while loading Killzone and Contrast.

From the few days i used it, it was only a few seconds slower when you are downloading more than one item at a time. Aside from that, this thing is possibility two times faster than a factory sealed PS3.

I've also noticed it's slower when downloading multiple things. Normally it's pretty fast for what I'm used to.

I can report no slow downs in loading. I haven't gone about downloading multiple games or anything yet, though.

The title scared me at first, because I'm planning to buy one, and this would be a factor, but after reading trough the comments, I can relax. hahaa

It's not that bad, certainly not when compared to what I've seen from the Xbox One. The PS4 looks very snappy even with multiple downloads (though it does depend on the size) really the only slow down I've seen anyone talk about is with Music Unlimited but that doesn't seem to have affected anyone during gameplay, just maybe a little loading and HUD. But I imagine that that will be fixed during the next update.

I have not experienced the loading times for myself, however from what I see on videos of people playing, it seems to be quite speedy - not too different though than that of the PS3 loading times. I believe there will be numerous updates to ensure things run smoothly.

I started up AC4 on both the PS3 and PS4 just to compare graphics. The load time was something I noticed.

PS4 cold start to interface= 23.95 sec
starting AC4 to Press X screen= 34.86
Press X to selection screen= 19.73
Selection screen to game save screen= .50
Game save to game= 12.77
for a grand total of 91.81

PS3 cold start to XMB=25.44
starting AC4 to Press start screen=22.90
Press start to selection screen=39.12
Selection screen to game save screen=1.26
Game save to game=23.04
for a grand total of 104.76

The difference is only around 13 seconds. Both games are digital copies which might help with time.

Keep in mind, load times are determined by the console manufacturer as well as game developers. If the code is inefficient then load times will be long. But expect much shorter load times.

I would imagine that load times are effected by what apps you're running at the same time. But things like that are going to be improved as games are released and Sony updates the firmware. So far I think a lot of people are happy with the load times but the one's effected by the slow downs are noting it to Sony so that they can fix it.

What exactly do you mean by "console manufacturer"? The read/write speeds of the hard drive inside every console should be the same, it isn't something that just varies model by model. Same with the discs.

i imagine the dashboard is always running in the background, so its able to switch instantly instead of having to be reloaded...
