PS4 non-gaming features?

One thing i love about the Xbox1 is the non gaming features, like the fantasy football and now the fitness apps, and app switching... The PS4's motto basically is all about games, but I haven't really heard anything about any other features.

I'm a gamer, but still like having a variety of things to do and instant switching, will PS4 have anything like this?

I'm not too sure but I guess it would have the TV services like the PS3 has. But I wouldn't be too sure about anything else. It seems as if Xbox One is more for the non-gaming stuff and the PS4 is for the gaming stuff, but that can't be too bad as you can just switch the freeview or sky box on.

I prefer Playstation 4 like this, as a gaming console only, better than the Xbox One's TV itergration and the applications thingy, it's a cheap way to attract consumers. What I mean is, I like Sony for focusing on trying make the Playstation 4 the best at gaming performance more than anything else.

Just get the Xbox One if you wanna watch TV with a console. The PS4 is a pure gaming device with little extras outside of that and that's what gaming consoles are supposed to be. If you're more of a gamer, I think that the PS4 will fit you much better. But if you're just in it for the movies or music or browsing the web and stuff, just get yourself a laptop. It's the only multimedia device that you'll ever need.

I feel exactly this way as well. Most of us have TV services and all that, it's not really necessary for the Xbox One to integrate that. I want to buy a console that's concentrated on gaming alone.

I hope that they focus on the games and solely the games. I am buying both consoles but I think PS4 will be better because my concerns are all related to gaming. I have a laptop for the internet. I have a dvd player for movies. I have a tv for football. I don't need all of that from my gaming console.

As many posters have mentioned, the PS4 is primarily a gaming device. It's also a Blu Ray player, internet and netflix browser. You'll even be able to develop your games on it at some point.

The Xbox one is redundant as a device to watch TV if you already have a cable box from your provider.

I am not a big fan of non-gamin features to be honest here. All I care about is games.

This guy right here knows whats up. If i need something else, i will turn my head to the right and do what i have to do in my computer, if i want games i turn to the left.

I would just like to see a better browser, to be honest. I often like watching Youtube videos on TV using my PS3, and personally this current version leaves a lot to be desired. Also it would be nice if I didn't have to quit my games to browse online, of course. I'm sure this is all going to be standard with the next generation of consoles, so I'm happy about that. I just hope they don't f--- it up.

I already have a very high end gaming PC. I am looking into the PS4 mainly for Naughty Dog games.

ChromeCast is a very good and cheap solution for TV browsing needs.

Actually, I like the fact that the PS4 is a gaming console and not filled with other unneccessary, overpriced junk like the Xbone.

Someone should e-mail this thread to Micosoft because it illustrates the problem with Xbox One. I don't think many real gamers are interested in an all in one entertainment center. Us gamers tend to have several electronic devices that are capable of functioning in the ways that Xbox One will function. This is also why PS4 is going to outsell Xbox One by a good margin.

Yes, I was wondering about the non-gaming features as well. I mean nobody just sits around and plays games all day. Eventually you will want to do something other than play video games. That is where the non-gaming options come into play.

Not really, cause then you turn just your PS4 off and go outside and do something.
Thats where the non gaming features come into play :o

To be honest the Xbone is a lost case. It's hardly a gaming console, and the fact that you need to be online all the time to play makes it an insta-fail. All the non-gaming features it has, people already have on another device anyway, so why add things that just make a gaming console even more expensive? The Xbone isn't even a gaming console at this point.

Um,this was removed some time back.
Or actually it will be once xbone users connect for the first time on the internet (which they have to at least once I believe when turning on the first time) as it will download a patch to remove all the DRM crap.

I also feel that xbone will lose the battle with PS4. None of my friends are pumped for an all in one entertanment center but all of us can't wait for a next generation console designed only for gaming: PS4. You are right. They added all these extra pieces of flare to make it more than a traditional console and it jacked the price up.

To be honest, I've seen a lot of Xbox fans disappointed with the direction of Xbone, and find the PS4 an attractive deal. I couldn't agree more! If Sony lives up to their promises, they're a winner!
