PS4 to DVI monitor

I'm trying to connect my PS4 to a monitor that doesn't have HDMI. I have an HDMI to DVI adapter, but when I plug everything in and switch the monitor to DVI, I'm told there is no signal. Is there any way that I can get this to work?

That's kinda strange. I have a monitor with my ps4 with the dvi to hdmi cable and it works fine. Make sure your ps4 is set to Hdmi really can't think of what could be causing the issue. Try another cable if you have one.

Mine isn't a cable; I just have the little adapter that has a male DVI end and a female HDMI end. I have that plugged into the monitor, and then the HDMI that came with the console plugged into that. I don't have any other cables to try or even an HDTV so I was pretty let down today. When you say to make sure the PS4 is switched to HDMI, would I need to see a menu to check that?

Sorry I was thinking of the audio.the dvi doesn't send audio you will have to use a toss link cable to a home theater amp to get sound or a gaming headset. I didn't have any luck with that kind of adapter. I ended up getting a belkin dvi to hdmi cable from apple for $30.00 and it worked straight out of the package. I herd a lot of people say the ps4 is very touchy when it comes to those dvi adapters. That's why I opted for something a little more pricey.

You need to make sure the adapter you buy is compatible because HDMI signals are equipped with (in this case very dumb) anti-piracy solutions. This is in addition to the HDCP protocol. There will also be some signal/quality degradation going from HDMI to DVI so be aware of that.

^^^^^Speaking of HDCP make sure on your ps4 under settings to uncheck the HDCP box this could be causing a problem. Not allowing signal to go to your Monitor. I had to uncheck that box for my Elgato game capture hd to work.

Think the signal loss is a bit of a myth considering either hdmi or dvi are capable of much higher resolutions/bandwidth than your ps4 will use

Well in the PS4's case I am not entirely sure. But I remember the Wii having a huge issue with "downgrading". Again, stuff like HDCP may not be supported by the adapter and you may get non-functioning hardware. I would make sure that the adapter I buy fully supports the intended usage.

It's probably the HDCP in the HDMI signal causing your issues. I'd see if you could disable that maybe..

YEAH it IS bacause of HDcP .. it happened to me today.. i couldn't get it working so i stopped HDCP and everything was ok ! Thank you guys
