PS4 vs. Xbox One - The Ultimate Showdown!!!

The PS4 is better than the xbox1 graphicly. Were the xbox1 is capped out at 720p, the PS4 goes the extra mile to 1080p.

It has,its just it seems quite a few simply cannot achieve that 1080P mark on the XboxOne.
Honestly though,in this say you would expect all games on both consoles to be 1080P. Should be.

If you look past the gimmicks and some games, the XB1 isn't really a good system. Besides the same games Halo and gears, they really don't have anything to offer but Kinect which was okay. Yes, PS4 needs to get some more exclusives but I rather play a system made for gamers than one made for watching TV programs.

Most of the games have been released in 900p for the Xbone. However, Microsoft worked with Blizzard when they were going to release Diablo 3:UE Edition in 900p and showed them how to make it play in 1080p. I think the days of games being released in 1080p on the PS4 and 900p on the Xbone are limited. The PS4 still has a hardware advantage because of the GPU and the speed of the dedicated/shared RAM for the gpu.

I think you should pick out the system because of games now that the PS4/Xbone are the same price. Sony easily wins this IMO unless you just really like Halo/GoW which have never been my types of games.

Yes this is very true.

It's the games that decide the winner not hardware spec (unless one is totally crippled!) of these machines.

To be fair, the original Xbone was crippled with required Kinect, TV tuner, and copyright protection, no used games, etc. Microsoft did make it right though. I only mention this because I don't believe Sony would have made the changes if they had made the decision to have no used games. The only way the consoles will get away with no used games is if they all do it at the same time. This may happen next generation as the may not even come with a optical drive. Once the consoles go digital only, they better start selling big titles for $5 like Steam or I will drop the consoles altogether.

This dropping of backwards compatibility has always rubbed me the wrong way. I think the consoles may end up putting themselves out of business if they all try the model Microsoft did originally.

There is no reason on earth why digital games should be $60 plus the price of the DLC. The games should cost a lot less. Also, I don't want anything to do with the pay to win model free games.

I now own both systems and after I play some games on the PS4 I can give my thoughts. I have a long 4 day weekend coming up so I should be able to give some impressions next week.

Totally agree that digital games should be way cheaper as much lower distribution costs, no box, no instructions, no postage etc.

Diablo 3 was £59.99 on PSN but I went into Game with Infamous, Watchdogs and Need For Speed and paid £2.19!!

Digital only could well be the death of console gaming for me as well.

Also, don't have to worry about digital games being sold and repurchased used, resulting in lost sales.

That being said, I think gamers are pretty lucky as far as prices go. Games are just about the same price they were when I was a kid. Less in many cases. That's not the case for most other consumer products.

This paragraph speaks a lot of sense

Dunno if it would be the death of console gaming for me but it would severely limit my gaming.
Not cause of prices or HDD space but cause of the actual internet.
Simply put, download speeds in many parts of the world and parts of one's owns country is just to slow still. It would take a week to download a 40GB game.
Then there is the problem of ISP bandwidth caps. Unless you have an unmetered/unlimited plan (even then some ISP's do still actually have a limit) downloading a 40-50GB game would put a huge dent is someone's data limit for the month,or eat it up altogether.

So again,as I have said many times before in diff threads, digital only blows big time for probably many if not most of us. Im glad current gen is still focused on discs and I loathe the day when we are forced into digital only.

wait that affects data limt? (slowly backs away out of the front door and into the street)

Well you are an island of convicts so we can't let you have 100Mbps uncapped like in good old Blighty can we?!

You have beaches, great weather, beautiful scenery and hot women - we get rain, wind and erm not much else so need good broadband.

Ha ha,there are plenty of places in AUS with fast broadband but Australia is a big country and it's mostly country and regional area's that have slower speeds.
And even then it varies from side of town to the other.
Australia is currently installing it's new NBN (Nation Broadband Network) and while its being installed in new area's as they are being developed most other places like where I am will still take a few years before I will have it.
In the meantime I have slowish ADSL2 speed. See here: http://ps4forum.com/20-off-topic-lounge/5418-how-fast-your-internet-connection-test-here.html

This is the major stumbling block across the world and especially more remote places which will take many, many years to get a decent service.

I believe remote parts of the USA are equally as bad if not worse.

50GB for a game seems the norm and even my speedy broadband takes 40 minutes to download if I'm getting max download speed.

I like the excitement of having a game arrive in the post and the cost savings of trading.

I agree the Playstation 4 will easily take over the Xbox One. With the Xbone's shady tactics, weird laws and regulations, horrible DRM, and more focus on TV than gaming, Microsoft seemed to forget who their main demographic was for the Xbox One. They keep thinking it's old people and housewives who want to watch TV, while in reality it's gamers who like the Xbox. I don't think the Xbox One can succeed, and I believe all the bigger companies will start making more exclusives for Playstation 4.

PS4 definitely has an upper hand as of now. They are outselling Xbox One by quite a margin, but Microsoft is going to catch up with them sooner or later. These guys aren't going to give up on it.

I disagree on trashing the Xbone for the TV part. It seems hypocritical for Sony fans as I loved the PS3 for it's games but also the fact it was the best BD player on the market at first. I honestly think all video game systems are going to have Streaming Movies/Netflix/etc and the ability to control the cable is not bad but it is not worth the extra $100 bucks originally priced different. The biggest mistake is Microsoft trying to force the Kinect down everyone's console when it has not improved any.

I am disappointed that Sony has no 3D TV Support in the PS4. It is not something I would use a lot but since the old PS3 had it, you certainly think the PS4 would have it.

I certainly think Sony is winning the war mainly because Microsoft tried to pull every underhanded trick in the book at release but to be honest, both consoles are underwhelming. Sony has released the worst Kilzone, the two worst Infamous games, and keeps releasing a bunch of 8 bit looking side scrollers and other similar games.

The people that held off on buying the PS4/Xbone were the smarter ones. I knew it would take time for good games but I didn't expect two months short of a year to have Fez to be one of the top two highest rated game on the console.

Sony, We need better games and I hope Naughty Dog and the final Uncharted is a system seller. Sony certainly has not won this war and to be honest, it is way too early and close to call who will win this generation. I know that both systems need better exclusives to win.

The PS4 does have 3D blu-ray playback and supports 3D games.

I sort of disagree with a lot of your post, as I own both systems, but each has their own thoughts.
I am more than happy with Kill Zone and Second Son and think there are a lot of great games for each system. I guess it all depends on everyones likes.
