PS4 vs. Xbox One - The Ultimate Showdown!!!

I think the debate is relevant during times of major releases such as this. generally at other times a ps vs Microsoft argument could just go on and on for other reasons, but people and especially parents who are interested in the reasons that they may choose to spend their precious Christmas money to appease the kids and others will need to have quality information regarding this. It's been a battle with a lot of parents for years now to accommodate this for their families; when kids are asking for all three consoles to be in the house. I am not a parent myself, but my brother is and is so busy that I realize he and many other parents wont be flipping back and forth between an Xbox forum and a Ps4 forum to find the information. There are a lot of complex features on the PS4 that will relate to his purchase choice, since he does possess three kids who are going to argue over what they want at Christmas.

XBox did change a lot of what it had originally said, but even with that, the PS4 had outsold it with preorders. (I can try and find a source on that). I think in those first few weeks, the attention on the PS4 had made a lot of people switch over. I'm not sure if the Xbox can catch up at this point. But, as with anything, time will tell.

I was a huge xbox fan this current generation; Have always loved xbox first party titles like Halo, Gears of War, Forza, etc.. I would have gone with Xbox One if MS did not show its true colors with money mongering decisions like Digital Rights Management (DRM). I know they have done a 180 on DRM and other features but just as easily as these options were removed they could be re-introduced to some degree in the future. I chose not to take any chances and go with Sony who has shown to be more gamer, and indie developer friendly this generation. I look forward to my PS4 and making some new friends on the Play Station Network (PSN).

I think that MS did a stupid thing when they first introduced the Xbox one with all the other restrictions like DRM. I know they changed it, but the damage has been done. I never bought any of the Xbox consoles because I liked PS better. I will be going with a PS4 because it has better features and better games. I can't wait to get my PS4.

I have been a loyal fan of Playstation ever since the release of Playstation 1. I have had a PS1, PS2, PS3 and now am looking at the PS4. I will tell you that I struggle with purchasing a new system when the PS3 is still working fine and there is not backwards compatibility. I will most likely purchase the new one at some point but not sure if it will be this year. I will definitely buy PS4 over Xbox One though. I had the red ring of death a few years back on an Xbox...it's left a bad taste in my mouth ever since.

CoD Ghosts on the PS4 is native 1080P while on the xbone its 720P upscaled to 1080P.
And so many titles are like this I believe.
This is 2013,new next gen console cant do 1080P native? Another fail for microsoft.

Wow did not know about this. A extreme failure on Microsoft's part to be honest, graphics is one of the most important aspects when releasing a new console...
Xbox is really behind this year, PlayStation4 will easily outsell.

In my opinion, I'd have to pick PlayStation over XBox in general. I've always loved the games more, and I've really always liked the PlayStation controller over the XBox one. My hands are small and it's just so much easier to hold and use. The XBox does have it's moments, but overall I would pick PlayStation. Mind you I must state that I have played PlayStation far more than XBox though, but I have played both. Go PlayStation!

I've never had a Xbox, but I will try to be honest on the comparison between these two.

Tech Specs - PS4>Xbox one
Design - PS4>Xbox one
Controller - PS4<Xbox One
Online Gaming/Multimedia services/ - PS4<Xbox One
Voice Control - PS4<Xbox One
Price - PS4> Xbox one (PS4 is way cheaper)

So the contest between these two is pretty even. Maybe Xbox one is slightly better if we ignore the price, but I'd still go for a PS4. Just my two cents!

Xbox One!

Lol. Just kidding.

Here's my completely unbiased, perfectly neutral, straight down the middle answer: PS 4!

I think the PS 4 would win on the gaming side while the Xbox One would take the multimedia side.

In my opinion, Sony has always had the better gaming titles, as well as the better controller. However, you're quite right, it's hard to compete with Microsoft on the multimedia side of the equation. But who needs a GAMING CONSOLE for multimedia?

Its simple.

Sony is a hardware company and PS4 has better hardware.

MS is a software company so the Xbox one has better software.

For those curious, ign has a detailed comparison of the two console's technical specs.

Laughed at the "backwards compatible" part. I guess it makes sense since both consoles will be moving to newer architectures, but something like the virtual console for the Wii would be nice to see.

There is a lot of things that the PS4 has going for it and there are way more positives than negatives. The same can not be said for the Xbox One, there are about the same amount of positives as are the negatives. But then again there is only one way to find out which is better and that's from playing both and experiencing them first hand. Naturally for me, I just going to stick with PlayStation because it's what I grew up with so I'm attached to it.

Yeah. Beyond anything else it was the backwards compatibility issue which annoyed me the most. I am pretty sure I would have blindly bought the console which offered backwards compatibility over the other one. It is one of those things that you have to live with.

I think Playstation will clearly and decisively take this round of console wars but that is not to say that the Xbox One won't be an awesome console because it will. The reality is that they Microsoft can to this gunfight with a well sharpen sword. I personally think they got too comfortable after releasing the 360, thus causing them to under-prepared, so to speak, for this generations console wars. Sony, on the other-hand, tucked their tales, licked their wounds, and when back to the drawing board and brought us something truly amazing. Not only does the PS4 overpower the Xbox One, as things go forward, I think we will see a stronger showing from Sony in terms of having a deeper and more exciting exclusive game line-up. Microsoft spent too much time focusing on build a better all around entertainment experience, but forgot about the thing that matters most when purchasing a console: Gaming.

The PS4 has a lot going for it but you could say the same thing about the Xbox One. Though personally I prefer the PS4 because of the focus on gaming and the fact that Sony isn't forcing me buy a peripheral that I don't want. I agree with Shamarv8, that Microsoft focused to much on the all in one experience and got really cocky with the success of the 360. It doesn't surprise me that the PS4 dead so much better in pre-orders.
