PSN Is down

As an early adopter of the PS+, I am considering not paying for this service anymore. I purchased a PS3 in the first year because of the Sony Exclusives but also because of the cell processors. The PS3 was a system that developers need6 + years to tap the potential of the machine. I bought the PS + plus as soon as it was available for the free games. I have been paying for PS+ since Day and went through many hassles and Sony trying to figure out how to make it's service better than the Xbox Gold. I expected hiccups during the first few years but not 8 + years later.

Sony is only a shell of it's former self. They make big mistakes and do not even respond to the issues.

Sony is far from the leading electronic giant that they once were. I hope other long term members cancel their PS+ memberships as voting wit our wallet is the only thing that will make Sony rethink their strategy.

I used to buy games for the on-line play more than the single player, i never bothered with the single player in COD or Battle Field for years, i now play on and off but the replay value for me is the on-line play, once i have finished the single player i don't see any point in replaying on a harder setting, if i give up PS+ i will lose the replay value of most games, i am not doing that to save less than £40 a year.

PSN down again in my part of the UK, do not know for other areas of the UK, since Christmas Day I have had fours of connection. Would reconnection vary for different countries? For instance would Sony prioritise a particular country because of income generated there?
 
While I agree that Sony should be doing a better job to protect their network, it is clear that government agencys need to get involved with catching these attackers. These attackers/DDOS'ers should in fact be considered terrorists. This is not even limited to Gaming networks. DDOS attacks have been targeted at many large companies for years now. It needs to be stopped.
 
Here in Italy there's no way to play online so far...

Ive been away for a few days but Im now back....

Well,though it didnt effect me directly as I was away during this attack here's my take on it.

Its not Sony's fault,but they still must accept a certain amount of responsibility though.
They did warn a month earlier PSN would be taken down at Christmas,which it was.
So you would think Sony would have taken that seriously and already looked at bolstering PSN security.

Lizard Squad made PSN unusable by overloading the service,to show that PSN and Xbox Live can be disrupted easily.(no hacked,but made unusable)
But that doesnt make what they did right at all.
What will happen to those responsible? If the law catches up with them will they be fined? Jail time? Or perhaps Sony will hire them to increase their security and bolster PSN service?

As for compensation for the short time PSN was off,not sure about that. For paying PS+ subscribers perhaps just an extra day or two of PS+? :Onya

I wouldn't go as far as considering them terrorists. They aren't trying to use fear tactics to get their way. They are just a bunch of punks on their computer. Criminals, absolutely. And they should be prosecuted. But again, I don't consider them terrorists. In the hack last month, I would consider them cyber-terrorists because they threatened harm to movie-goers (like bombing and killing them). The Christmas attack was just a bunch of douchy kids.

these are the same douchy kids that made a bomb threat and got the fbi involved
