Round One Goes To PS4?

I'm not really much for console wars, but I have to admit, it's entertaining to read the comments and articles I've been seeing online so far and seeing everything unfold. From the recent information that have been released with Xbox One, it looks like the common consensus so far is that Playstation might win this one.

Even Nintendo seems to have benefited from Microsoft's mishap:

intendo Wii U premium bundle sales reportedly rose 386 percent on Amazon.co.uk, moving it from sales rank 243 to number 50.

I've also read one article which theorizes that not focusing on games was Microsoft's way of subtly admitting defeat.

Xbox One is just announced, while Microsoft admits they have lost the war against Sony PlayStation 4 in the most subtle way during their “reveal event” May 21, 2013.

So what do you think, is it looking very good for PS4, or do you think this is just a minor hiccup and will they pretty much gain equal market shares eventually? Do you think MS has really turned its back on gamers, and if so, do you think their fans will now migrate to Sony?

I think PS4 has a major advantage in this war. To be, it's like a 6th reader bullying a 1st grader. Chances are, the 6th grader will win. A lot of people are disappointed in the Xbox one so far. Unless they release something at E3 which will be something amazing, chances are, PS4 has already won.

Actually, when it comes to "buzz", I think that the Xbox One has won it. There are a lot of positive comments and even more negative comments. Though there are a lot of negatives, it just shows that people are taking notice and are talking about it. When we are talking only about the positives, I think that the PS4 has won it in this one. But there's still a long way to go.

That's a very strange advert, you know I think there is also a covert thing here that Microsoft and Sony can now spy on you with all this tech. Of course they can, that's what I think. On topic though, I agree that Sony has the upper hand. I really think Microsoft has tried to hard, but in nearly all the wrong ways. Sure it's still going to be a great console, but PS4 has more power I think and is more dedicated to true gaming.

I that 30 second preview was kind of silly to be honest, I mean they could have at least shown a clear view of one side of the console at least! I guess they just know how to keep their potential buyers in suspense!

I think PS4 will not only win the first round, but they will end up winning the fight. This is a war that xbox I don't think will win. I have to agree with blacksolaris, xbox should bow out and let both sony and nintendo battle it out. Eventhough they are very different consoles and target a different audience they are the leaders in their respective lanes.

I think PS4 will not only win the first round, but they will end up winning the fight. This is a war that xbox I don't think will win. I agree, and I even partially believe the article that stated that they were indeed bowing out subtly by showcasing everything but the games. I think it's a shame since they did relatively well with the 360 and could probably have carried on with the momentum had they just kept the greed and evil levels more hidden, or better yet just do away with it. It's clearly not doing them any good. But yeah, unless they pull something off something crazy at E3, I think they are fighting a losing battle.

I'm not a fan of the Xbox One at all, but I think calling the PS4 the winner might be jumping the gun a little bit considering how little we know about it. Who knows, Sony could potentially come out and announce a feature even more infuriating than Mandatory Kinect (I wouldn't be too shocked if this happened). The real winner in that case would definitely be the PC Gaming industry.

Come on Sony, you had the PS Eye first, remake that into something special and higher spec than the Kinect and then you will truly blow Microsoft out of the water and into the bin!!!

I am pretty sure that Sony is including a camera and motion control features. I believe it will look something like this:

That looks awful, I hope they revise the design before they release it to the public. I've heard good things about this gadget, though, supposedly it will help you locate your controllers and a bunch of other useful functions. Additionally, I think I read somewhere that they are only including it since it is in fact a great tool but no one was buying it.

I don't see how xbox has lost anything at this time... the only thing they managed to do is divert all of the talk from playstation 4 to xbox due to the xbox one reveal, and that's a great thing for them. I'm not crazy about xbox, but I don't like the idea of having playstation dominate the console market. If you have only one choice, it would give them too much power and they could force higher prices, more restrictions and such. competition is good for most things, especially when it comes to supply and demand.

You bring up a great point. I suppose while all of us here assume that MS is losing their sh** with the way things have unfolded, for all we know, they could be celebrating a victory of at least being kept relevant enough to be talked about this much, this early. No publicity is bad publicity, I guess, and they still have E3 to blow us all away anyway, they could just be holding everything back until then, after all. I'm excited to see which console comes out on top after all the rumors have been proved/disproved.
