RPG games

I'm RPG-addict. I can't wait for Final Fantasy XV. There's a little RPG with release date announced on PS4. We know we will have Kingdom Hearts 3, The Witcher 3 and Final Fantasy XIV. What I want to see is a new RPG series coming out.

What do you expect for RPG genre on PS4 ?

Lol Lindbergh, I think 35 is too over-hyped, I wish we could go back to the mechanics of 28, now THAT was a great game :D

Seriously though, the one I'm looking forwards to the most is the new Dragon Age, hopefully it will be more like the first one.

I'm not a big RPG fan, but I too look for those games you mentioned, all of them are promising, unless they manage to mess them up good.

I'm not even sure if Kingdom Hearts is going to come out this gen. I mean, they keep making noises about it, but I could easily see it going the way of the Last Guardian. Only at least with Kingdom Hearts we get the side games every now and then, which only make the wait for the real thing that much harder, and the story much more convoluted.

I'm really excited about the next Witcher game. I'm a big fan of the previous 2 and also of the books. Can't wait for the next open-world game by Bethesda too! Probably will be Fallout 4. :)

I've been meaning to ask, how are the Witcher books, and do I have to play the games in order to really get them?

I'm waiting for the next Dragon Age, The Witcher 3, and Cyberpunk 2077. Could care less for FF at this point.

The Witcher books are excellent but in no way necessary to understand games story. You'll have a deeper understanding of the world and recognize a few characters though. If you're going to play both games, you should play them in order even though you don't need TW1 to understand TW2.

They're relatively different games so if you're not having fun with TW1 go ahead and jump to TW2. :)

That's alright then, I'll pick the books up and get reading on them first, just because I'll manage to get through them faster than I'll play the games, and then obviously head onto the games themselves. Thanks man!

Really? You liked Final Fantasy 28? It was like 25 hours of movie and 8 hours game. Didn't care for 35 at all. That game was assy.

Now FF25 and 29, those are what you want to play.

I'm looking forward to Dragon Age as well.

Witcher 3. Unless Square Enix is announcing another Dragon Quest I'm not interested. Besides they usually give the main DQ to Nintendo post DQ VII and DQ VIII (outside of DQX on PC).

Argh! Another lover of FF25? That game was nothing but a bunch of Quick Time Events stringed together by a thin storyline :)

I agree with FF29 though, that storyline was great and super innovative, especially in how there is a looming threat on the world and you are the unlikely hero who is the only person who can save it from complete destruction! hehe ;)

I.LOVED.Final Fantasy 29. Like you travel from town to town handling that town's part in the storyline and then never return to that town again? C'mon Square Enix, if you're gonna go recycling gameplay from older FF games...the story was good though and there were 20% more belts, chains, and spiky hair. They even went back to the gradient boxes for speech! GRADIENT COLORED BOXES WHERE YOU PICK YOUR OWN FRAME!

Memories. :'(

Oh and there were so many QTEs in FF25 you'd think Square Enix got in a time machine and outsourced the game to mid-late 90s Sega.

Some of my favorite RPG franchises: Breath of Fire, Dragon Quest/DQ Monsters (GBC games), Pokemon, Fire Emblem, FF Tactics, TACTICS OGRE, Luminous Arc, that one game Riveria on GBC, Golden Sun, Robopon, Robotrek (which was Pokemon before Pokemon), Etrian Odyssey...bah it goes on for a while.

Wow this is all a bit surreal. I guess we have a few time travelers on these forums?

Diablo III, The Witcher, and FF XV are the ones I'm waiting for.

@SpaceTiger - Breath Of Fire oh yes now that takes me back. Spent many, many hours on these games.

A new Elder Scrolls (not online) would be great as would a reboot of the Phantasy Star games I used to play.

I've found a list of the top 100 games and a lot of classics there:

Yeah that whole Final Fantasy thing kinda went off the rails, sorry about that :)

On topic: I'm hoping we get a few more MMORPG's, it's a genre that could really be improved in consoles and the more come out the better.
