Rumor: Might there be a remastered Warhawk game coming to the PS4?

Remember Warhawk on the PS3? It was a pretty fun game, but since it came out near the launch of the PS3, it kind of lost steam as newer games that made more/better use out of the graphics and other capabilities of the PS3 came out. Well, PSXextreme reported that Dylan Jobe, Warhawk's game designer, may have let the cat out of the bag on Twitter the other day:

"I've been think alot lately about Warhawk remastered for PS4. Could be pretty spectacular."

Would you play a newly remastered Warhawk on the PS4?

I was never really into the Warhawk game. My friend had it and I use to go over his house and play it sometimes, but it was not a fan favorite of mines. I doubt if they made a remastered version I would get it.

Warhawk was a cult hit but I am sure it wasn't a huge money maker for them. It was also a bit of a dev disaster. Originally it was going to have a SP but that never happened. Still, it would be awesome to have on PS4. Starhawk was an ok game by not a worthy sequel. Package it up with all the DLC and people will cobble it up, and keep the splitscreen please.

I'd like to see Warhawk back but I'm not positive that it would do all that well. That's the thing with cult hits, the ones who remember it want it back but there is always a chance that the greater public won't embrace it again. I'd love it on PSN though at a discount price, I'd be all in it.

My uncle would play the original one on PSX all the time and got his PS3 for the remake. It did get received well as did the sequel, so it could probably see a remaster if the studio is working on nothing else of note.

Your uncle on a PS3 just for Warhawk or was it just the main thing he wanted and everything else was a side of gravy?

Yeah, he actually got the PS3 for that game specifically. He enjoys BF and CoD, but he really wanted Warhawk.

I loved Warhawk, zones in this game was amazing. The dogfights were more intense than I hae had in any game, ever!
I just wish it had a story behind it. It just seemed like a war game based on a concept just so the PS3 could say they had one at the time.

I'm intrigued by this, but they'll have to do more than just remaster Warhawk. I'm hoping for an all new game bearing the name of the franchise, one with an actual story. I know that every game needs a story, and I'm cool with the most basic of plots ala Rayman or Mario but give me something. A little bit of narrative before I commence with the mayhem.

A bit of story should be mandatory. It doesn't have to be a long, winding, fleshed out thing, just something to run with.

Exactly. I don't need a massive David Cage like narrative with a game like Warhawk, just a little bit of what I'm doing and why. Like Mario, just a basic story before I commence with the playing to really bring the game back to the year 2014. We'll see what happens if the rumor turns out to be true.

When it comes to Mario, on one hand a deep storyline would make it "Not Mario", but other hand a main Mario series game having an actual story that is beyond collect stars and save this would be great.

I am very interested in Warhawk but never got the chance to play it. I'd be glad if it's going to get a remastered version on the PS4 but I would have preferred a Warhawk 2 for PS4 though.

I have heard chatter about a possible warhawk coming to PS4 but haven't heard anything official. Never the less I'm interested but then again I've never actually played any of the series.

Please, please, please! I've been following this closely and so-far haven't found out any details but I'm excited by the notion. I recommend that everyone who hasn't played the series yet should run through it in-case the new one comes out.

I would actually like to see Mario have a storyline, I mean a deeper storyline. But yeah that would make it not Mario but that doesn't mean that they couldn't boost things up to Zelda story. It's not The Last of Us but there is a story there and if you analyze the games Zelda can be quite dark when you think about it. But that's what I want for Warhawk, a slight there's a minor plot.

The interesting thing is that it's not impossible to give Mario a deep storyline with some beef to it. The RPG series in the Mario franchise (the original RPG, the first two Paper Mario games, and Mario & Luigi) have good, consistent stories from start to finish while still being distinctly Mario. In the case of the core Mario platforming series, just do the same. Actually Mario & Luigi fleshed out the Mushroom World the best. Just come up with a situation, chronicle Mario's quest through say Saraland or Dinosaur Land (because serious, Mario just popped up there) via cutscenes and dialogue between forts and after castle boss battles, and focus heavily on the platforming.

Legend of Zelda has always had an interesting timeline where things got confusing. The story there was usually that darkness fell on the world etc. The story is pretty dark, but it's never explored that deeply. I always joke that it should be Legend of Link since you'll see very little of Zelda and 9.9/10 she sends Link on an errand to clear out dungeons and stuff. Speaking of deceptively dark storylines: Sonic. The manuals at the time explained very little. When Sonic SatAM and the very well written Archie Comics series based on SatAM came out, everything was tied together for Sonic.

Warhawk is a game that's hard to explain. On PSX it would standout, beyond that you'd forget it until you heard the name and/or saw the cover. It was a good series though. It's just that playing it, you knew it was going to be regulated to forgotten freshness status.

Yes! Give me Warhawk! oh my god! I played that game so much i got bored of it, and I don't get bored of games easily. The power ups, the flight system, the open world, the air and ground battles, it is truly one of a kind. To play it on ps4 would be like playing crash bandicoot on ps4. Not AS epic cause I love me some crash but Warhawk takes the cake for online shooters. Especially 3rd person.
