Saving DVDs

If I have a DVD that I would like to save to the PS4 is that possible? Would I just need to rip the DVD to a mpeg4 or something like that using a program like EASEFab? I'm asking because my son constantly wants to watch Cars and I'm trying to avoid constantly ejecting the game I'm playing to put in the Cars disc. Any help would be much appreciated.

Back like a year ago this would be a problem but since a major update, it is now possible to play movie files. The PS4 has some pretty strict requirements when playing MP4 files. They need to be encoded with H.264/MPEG-4 AVC High Profile. I'm not sure if I'm hitting some gray area here if I post the link to the converters (I like it here and don't want to face Oberon's wrath ) but I totally won't stop you from typing in Google 'video converter for PS4'

Now you will have to put it on a thumb drive or set up a home network (external hard drives do not register). Thumb drive is easiest. First, you want to make sure the Media Player app is installed. You can check that on the home screen or search for it in your apps list. If it's not, just download it from the PS Store. According to guides online, the thumb drive needs to be formatted in FAT or exFAT. I believe most are. Now, for the PS4 to read it, you are going to need to make folders on the root level of the thumb drive. These will be "Photo", "Music", and "Video". If you don't do this, your PS4 won't read it. Complicated I know. This is why I still use my PS3 for media. Can literally plug in my external hard drive and find what I want without having to jump through hoops

That, to be honest, I'm not sure. I've never tried it. Though to help you out, I did fire up my PS4 and try to copy a video to my PS4 and I couldn't figure it out. I usually just play media off the thumb drive anyway so it doesn't take up space on the system's hard drive I could use for games. My advice will be just to buy a cheap thumb drive if you don't have one for a few bucks and just leave it plugged into your PS4 if you are planning on playing Cars every day

I guess you can buy it and download it from PSN. But I'm pretty sure you can't rip the disc onto your PS4.
