So Amazon purchased PS4's are Bricking

Not all of them but a nice sized, it's gathering attention portion, of PS4's that were purchased from Amazon are getting the BLOD (Blue Line of Death). Now some are suggestions that whoever is shipping them out isn't exactly handling the consoles with care and it's causing so many problems that Sony had to address the issue and Amazon is preventing people from reselling their consoles. I don't blame Sony for this, but who here has bought a console from Amazon and is having issues?

They choose poorly..... Just kidding, couldn't help myself. Really sucks for them, I bet you amazon will have those replaced real quick.

Amazon will be on top of replacing the consoles. Some of these cases are probably poor handling.

I've seen a few stories about the packaging of Amazon, but I'd consider them rumors at this point. Looking at the reviews on the PS4 listings on there, it's hard to tell the trolls apart from the real reviews. A lot of the ones leaving comments aren't even verified buyers, meaning they most likely never even ordered the PS4 they are reviewing.

I've noticed in the product reviews for the longest that people sometimes rate the seller's delivery performance. They'll complain about stuff coming broken or missing stuff when that's all on the seller's hands and has little to nothing to do with the actual product they received.

Mine came from Amazon and I haven't had any problems. The packaging wasn't the greatest though. Sony box inside another carton that fit fairly well except for the height. To fill the space, there was one strip of longer air pockets.

Sounds like Amazon's premium packaging to me (kidding). It's good that you haven't had problems and that your PS4 came in one piece, though. Never want someone to end up with damaged electronics.

...unless they plan on fixing it themselves, then good for them.

Damn! I was about to preorder mine off Amazon since I couldn't find anywhere else with them available, but I'm kind of glad I didn't now. I'm sure they're replacing them all, but still, I'd rather not.

This is rumored to be how Amazon packed a PS4. Not sure if they're packing all of them this way, but it's still pretty extreme.

This whole blue line of death scandal is really starting to worry me too. It could really effect Sony's / PS4's reputation.

Is that a cardboard block/brace between the PS4 box the packaging box or am I seeing the bottom of the packing box? If it's the brace that should keep the PS4 from sliding around so much during transport and handling. If not, there no wonder they got jostled and are having some problems now. The bubble life jacket only does so much.

That's the bottom of the box. And that's about how mine looked, except for my outer box being much shorter.

It's not the best wrapped package in the world is it? Really if this is an Amazon package then it makes sense why PS4s are bricking. But I kinda believe the report what with the way that Amazon has responded and the amount of consumer complaints. But things seem to be settling now that the launch is over because I haven't heard about a lot of bricking.

I think their shipping package is just fine. It could be better though.
Right now, most of the PS4 reviews on Amazon are just trolls trying to confuse people, so don't believe those reviews too much.

Well a good chunk of those reviews should be taken with a grain of salt. But that doesn't mean that the controversy isn't in some ways a little real. But it's pretty much gone away now because the majority of PS4's should be shipped. I only trust verified accounts when I read reviews, otherwise it's hard to believe them.
