So what do you think on the prices of PS Now?

Although I never got past the connection test I did however check out the prices for the games offered. There have been two sides on this, some say they are reasonable while a lot of them complained. Personally, I'm 50/50 on this. On one hand, I think $2.99 for 4 hours of rent time is ridiculous while on the other I think the rental price for 90 days isn't that bad and is actually what I'm willing to pay for. What do you think on this or like some other third opinion; it's better if PS Now is just a subscription service like Netflix instead of individual rentals?

as i mentioned in another thread, it's FAR too high especially considering the price of the second hand games market, ( you can pick up a lot of the games they have to rent for $10 or less to keep ) and the EA pass ( $20 to rent all the EA games for a whole year )

They need to re work their pricing model around those two factors before people like me would be interested.

Are they really charging for a certain amount of hours on a game? To me that's just nuts.

Oh yes... get this.

F1 2013 to rent for 90 days is $49.99 !!!!!!!!!

Rent goes from 4 hours at entry level and the pricing varies from $2.99 to $6.99 for 4 hours depending on the game

Am I the only one who thinks that is pretty ridiculous?

Its really stupid.

Oh and isn't $50 dollars close to a full priced title brand new? - the logic is god awful.

The only reason I'd rent a game is if its going to be a lot cheaper than buying it new.

My logic would be that spending £30 or whatever it'll end up being in the UK for a game that I don't own. I'd be telling myself...well for £10 I could buy the game new as I can buy most PS3/PS4 games for around the £45 mark in Asda or Tesco.

So to me I'd pay around £20 for a 90 day rental because I can mentally justify the savings. If I'm £35 for a rental of a game I can't really justify the savings...because I'd be like 'I could by the physical copy of the disk for £45 and then sell it when I'm done on CEX and get around £35 for what I paid for it'.

The prices are ludicrous and I do not suspect they are final. Sony is pretty good at responding to the Playstation community's input, so here is hoping...

My favorite was MGS4. It cost 5 bucks for 4 hours. That wouldn't even get you past the opening cut scene ;)

I wouldn't rent a game unless its something I had previously played and traded in for example, just to replay it a little. I can understand people taking up this option though to try out the game to see if the like it before purchase maybe though?

Like I said before and everyone here has the same opinion it is too expensive. It has great potential but wtf are these pricing levels they are using? $2.99 for 4 hours yeah might be good enough for Ground Zeroes but no other game should be rushed if you are playing it for the first time that 4 hours is enough. Even COD has a larger campaign mode. I am sure the backlash will result in more adequate prices but for now it is a stupid service for that price.

The prices for the ahort term seem too high. But there may be a place for that. I paid $3 (I think) to have Crazy Taxi for a frw hours. I pkayed it until I was bored and now I'm good for another couple years.

The long term prices don't seem any worse than if you continuously rented a game from Blockbuster or something back in the day...

Sounds pretty silly to rent a game for only a few hours. There aren't many people I know who's only going to play a new game for just 4 hours. It makes me wonder what kind of prices to expect in the future if they are considering models like these. If the technology is this expensive then tone it down so its more affordable and makes sense to consumers. I don't think there is much to gain from a technological marvel that can only be rented for a few hours.

I view the four hour rental as almost an answer to people who are very busy and don't have time for gaming. Why put money into a system if you're not able to enjoy it. So, I have a buddy who has like three jobs and is a gamer. He has about two hours a week sometimes to dedicate to getting his fix and usually just jumps into something on his PC. I could see this being a good situation for him where he sees a game he likes. He's able to pay for a quick experience and not pay the full retail price.

Sometimes there's going to be business models that don't make sense. I think that when Sony or MS do something, there's some way to project it out to be worth your while.

With so much hate on the price right now, I'm sure that Sony is going to reduce the price when it finally launches. The thing they are going for is that it's also available to those that don't own consoles but Sony products in general. PS Now is going to be available on their TVs too once it's official. Whatever it is, if they set on this track PS Now is going to fail miserably.

It makes perfect sense for people that want to try out a game before buying it, I think. $3 to $6 bucks or so and four hours to test out a game isn't bad. You could do far worse. However, I agree with everyone that's saying Sony will probably respond to consumers and rework the pricing schedule. It is expensive for anyone that actually wants to rent games frequently. A Netflix-esque subscription service would be far better for Sony and consumers alike, but I'm not sure they'll actually implement such a service. The a la carte rentals make more sense from a profits view.

Yea, I think its important to divide the "demo" market because you shouldn't have to pay for a demo. Paying for a demo with $4 being its price really is ridiculous. That's a little under 10% of the total cost of a new game so if you're looking for a demo just go to steam or something. If you want to play Tomb Raider for a few hours, pay the $4.

While that's true, a lot of the games can be bought online for a lot less than a 30 or 90 day rental price. If you're paying more than £15 for a 90 day rental of a game that's more than one or two years old then that's quite a flaw.
