Sony still taking unnecessary jabs at Microsoft on Launch

Is it wrong that I can't help but love the fact that Sony is still taking shots at Microsoft. I want them to keep doing this, I enjoy this 5th grade behavior from Sony. It's a commercial and I'll post it so that you can judge for yourself but it's clearly Sony judging the Xbox One on the fact that the games are 720p. Of course I may be reading into this but I can't help but believe that that's what Sony is doing.

Sony PS4 taking shots

I actually had to watch it a second time to fully catch the little jab they made. That's pretty damn clever and funny. Though my favorite is still the first one where they made a video showcasing how to share video games on the Playstation 4, before the Xbox ONE revoked the whole "No used games" decision. Attached is the video.

I approve of this needless trolling. I know it's not mature and we shouldn't be backing Sony on the endless jabs that they seem to insist on throwing at Microsoft but I can't help myself. I just watched my friend trade in his Xbox One for the 3rd time and we just got it to work so I say good for Sony. Never stop wet willying Microsoft.

Yeah, it's all fun and games. They also said congratulations to each other over on twitter, so i guess that even though they are rivals, they both had their own success, which might look like everyone is a winner on this battle!

yea its harmless fun and theyre both winners. The biggest winners though are us gamers. Two great consoles to choose from. much more power this generation, massive games

I guess some competition is necessary. If it takes a certain kick in the balls for Microsoft to step their game up, by all means. I'm just hoping it won't be all up to who can out-advertise the other, and instead they make decision that genuinely benefit their customers.

They can't seem to help themselves. My theory is that they are hyping up the rivalry because it would mean more attention and more sales for the industry. I'm a little surprised at what they are putting out there, but if it's all in good fun then I think it's alright. I just hope people don't start taking it too seriously though, even most of the trolls know it's just a joke, probably - or at least I hope so.

Yeah, it's just harmless fun and both consoles seem to be doing well for themselves right out of the gate. Though I'm enjoying Sony enjoying the trolling. It's just so fun and they seem to love doing it. Almost everyday I'm tempted to check their twitter or their youtube page to see what slam they decided to throw Microsoft's way. Whoever is writing these things for Sony must be loving this.

Have any X-bots seen this yet, because that would either be hilarious or the saddest thing ever seen... which may in fact be hilarious. Who wants to post this on an Xbone forum? I am not doing it, because I pride myself on never being banhammered.

I've never been banhammered and I almost want to do it just for the experience but I'm sure that their not enjoying it with the same sort of glee that we are. Or at least their not using their sense of humor. It's pretty harmless fun, but from what I've seen on n4g they are not loving it at all. It's easier to say that they are pretty defensive and pissed about it. Really though the Sony fans have been the trolliest of trolls lately. It's kinda of hilarious.

They both said congrats to one another on their launch days...

But.. at the end of the day... they are direct competitors.. And competitors need to push their products competitive advantage of the others in some form. Is it juvenile? Perhaps.. But you gotta do what you gotta do, right? ;)

At least it is a subtle jab and not a shotgun to the face :)

I think it is quite funny that Sony is so open about their competitveness like this. Everyone knows that the two consoles are competing for the size of their unique fanbase, so it is no surpise.

I would never see either company going out of there way to sabotage the rivals chances, they both have too much at stake to go that far and I don't believe there is any hatred involved aside from the competitive nature.

Rivalries like this are just fun as long as both sides keep it fun. As long as there is no deliberate mud-slinging on the part of Sony or Microsoft then I love this kind of thing. I don't want Sony to stop with the needless jabs. I want more, I want WWE style promos to be cut. In fact my life would be complete if Yoshida cut a Rock style promo.

It's subtle.. I like it..lol.

The commercial itself is kinda boring though. I've liked most of the commercials I've seen so far, but this one is just pointless, IMO.

Well as long as the thing doesn't get mean spirited, it all seems ok to me. Although hitting on the 720p thing is like hitting where it hurts. It's amusing for sure, in a way.

I got a good laugh out of that ad, but nothing beats "How to share games on the PS4." About the launch day congratulations, I saw those as subtle trolling since there were problems out the gate. Like someone getting a 4th place trophy and saying "Congrats!" or tripping someone and asking if they're okay.

Yeah, that "how to share games on the PS4" thing was great. Thing is, I've thought that Sony was actually gonna go DRM-crazy too, but they backed out fast before the reveal because they saw people's opinions on the subject... we might never know now!

I never saw the congratulations like that. Specially not since it seems most defective units for both consoles are a extremely small minority

I can see how the congrats could be viewed like that since the news of defective units were right there with first impressions. Roughly the same amount of coverage even though they (the lemons) were minor in number.
