Hey guys,

Has anybody here tried The Last Of Us yet?
The game looks amazingly brilliant from images and videos, but I have not had the opportunity to try it yet due to current financial restraints.
I have watched some Youtube videos of PewDiePie playing through the game and I enjoyed it immensely, but to avoid (more) spoilers I stopped watching the videos.

So, without any spoilers, have you played this game? Would you recommend it and why?

It isn't for me. The story is wonderful and is certainly one of the best video game stories ever. The gameplay however, is just not there for me. It felt repetitive and only there just to get to the next story segment. I get why people like it though.

I've played it for awhile with my friend and it was pretty cool. I didn't get to play long enough to give you a good recommendation but it seemed like a pretty good game!

It's definitely not the "Citizen Kane of video games" or anything even close. It does what it tries well and is surprisingly professional about it. Of course it's all great if you don't notice how "rollercoaster" the entire game is, without much sense of exploring, but still, great game.

I must admit, the first time I played I couldn't stop so I just did a marathon and played it in one run.

It's really as brilliant as it looks. Never a game made me feel this attached to this characters, you feel the need to help them in their quest. The storyline is amazing and I promise you, the first 15 minutes will make you cry like a little baby!
The cinematics are just to good you dont even feel the need to pass them, as in most games nowadays.
I recomend it to everyone, it just plays with your emotions while giving you some action in the same time. It felt like a playable movie to me. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

It's one of the best games I've ever played. I really appreciate when a game succeeds in every aspect it seeks to achieve. Intense storyline, incredible visuals, and original game play make it pretty much the greatest zombie game of all time.

So, I've never even heard of this game! Am I like living under a rock? The brief descriptions I read about it make it seem pretty cool however. But what is the game really about? What do you do in it? I may have to check it out if it's worth it.

My brother-in-law just bought this game and I've been playing it every time I visit. The graphics, for starters are absolutely great, I feel like I'm actually in the game. As for actual game play, I loved the characters and controls. The story is interesting, too. It's not one of those games you want to click through what everyone's saying. I haven't finished it yet, but so far I definitely give it a thumbs up and recommend it.

Thanks for these posts guys, you've all been very helpful so far! :)

It does sound like a good game to get and play. You've pushed me a little closer to hitting that "buy" button.
One of the problems with games these days is the short storyline, due to the increasing cost of making games. Apparently a huge game costs as much as two box-office movies to make these days. Which is why I love games like Skyrim, because it's literally never-ending.

Does this game allow the player the freedom to explore and roam?

It's awesome! Yes it gives the players freedom to explore and roam but don't expect GTA type gameplay. It's more in the line of Uncharted and Tomb Raider when it comes to exploration and roaming. It's not really linear but it does have its limitations. Still, the post apocalyptic world of the Last of Us is a living and breathing world that really is very believable.

Yeah, pretty much. Once can say that you have been living under a rock lol. Go get this game.

I like it good story good gameplay, but I personally thought it got a little more praise than it got.

I honestly thought all the praise it got was well-deserved. It had an engaging and emotional story, but didn't sacrifice that for entertaining gameplay. Not only that, but it had one of the best endings of a game I ever remember.

Compare that to what's often popular. I know this is comparing apples and sneakers, but bear with me for a second. Think of this compared to CoD. Cod has great gameplay, especially online. It's quite entertaining, but I could never get into the plot or sympathize with any of the characters. I played it knowing I played a video game. With LoU, I felt completely immersed, like with a movie or television show where you can't wait to see the next minute. It made me feel more invested in the characters.

The game is a bit overrated considering the amount of praise it gets. Not saying that it is a bad game or even a merely good one, heck, it's a great game but the intensity with it is praised ended up creating unreachable expectations for me and I had a tinge of disappointment when it was over.

Still, there is no doubt that you should definitely try this game if you haven't already.

I would recommend this game to others. This is a really good game and I quite enjoyed playing it. I watched my nephew play this game then I borrowed it from him when he was done. I have to admit that I didn't play it as good as him, but I did enjoy this game and I would definitely say you should try this game. You would love it.
