The truth on PS4 Free to Play games

Oberon

PS3 "free to play" games are that, free to play.At least AFAIK free to play is up to publishers whether or not you need Playstation Plus for their free to play titles.
So I would say most likely if you dont but PS+,you can still play these games online, for free.

Xbone on the other hand not,if for free to play you need Xbox Gold..what a load of shi.......

That is Xbox for you they just want money constantly it annoys me thats why i am getting the PS4, if you have watched the unboxing everyone is saying the same like "I don't want this I want the PS4 unboxing" Xbox have ruined it this year with the price and the features.

X-Box will have it's loyal supporters, but I think PS4's free-to-play model is better. Most games are moving into microtransactions (League, Team Fortress 2, etc) and I think this will be a great way to get people hooked into new games that they can buy additional content for. I'd love to see it be like the Android marketplace where many developers are constantly uploading new, free content.

Yeah it's nice that Sony is still allowing various online things such as Netflix and various F2P games which I think is awesome, sucks for people who might want to play something on Xbox though and don't have gold. But hey I guess that's what happens when you have a console that never turns off and is always watching you.

I can't wait to see what Free to Play Games comes to the PS4. I personally loved playing DC Universe on my ps3 and I think a lot of other games would work great. I guess it really is all up to the developers on whether or not they want to support it. I personally would just like to see more MMO games.

Honestly, I feel like it's just a move to not completely alienate those customers that got a PS3 because of the free online. If they, just like MS, already had a subscription model for online play on the PS3, I am pretty sure they'd make F2P games require a PS+ subscription as well.
Actually, I wouldn't even be surprised if they end up changing this on PS4 sometime down the line, anyway. Probably stating that it's to ensure those games make them money so they can continue to exist/have better quality and value, blah blah.

I don't know what advantage the game developers would have if they force players into PS+, unless playstation pays them. Most of the games already have an online code to lock the game on only one playstation user, so i don't see why they would also force PS+ on people. If they remove the online activation code, ok... i can see a reason.

That'd be exactly it; Sony paying/forcing them to.
They're the ones who pull the strings so if they decide they want people to have to pay to let them play ANYTHING online, they can. Or do you think it's the developers' choice to have customers have to pay for online multiplayer in "normal" games?

I suspect that you'd also have to buy a subscription to PS+ to play the free games this time around. I don't mind too much having to pay, though, although of course I'd rather that they just keep everything that requires payment to be separate. I'll have to actually experience the service for myself to find out, but I'm hoping it will all still be completely free since I don't really play online that much.

Yet another good move for Playstation 4. Although I'm going to be getting Playstation Plus it's nice that they're not restricting access to those without it.

As far as online gaming features go, Playstation has always been ahead of Xbox in that category. I can't honestly see the competition getting any closer in the near future either, because Playstation gives their users more for their money.
