Transferring in

Transferring in from the land of the xbox.
I used to be a playstation kinda guy until the accounts got hacked a few years ago.
Changed to the green side, had a PS4 on pre order and changed it at last minute to an Xbox One.

I have seen the light, I have now crossed back to the dark side of the PS4 and in about 12 hours time I will have done a swap deal with a local lad to give him my Xbone for his PS4

I am making amendments for my errors ;)

Anyway, I'm based in Glasgow and have a few questions.

The annoying thing about the xbone was that you had to kind of....'install' the game before you played it, does the PS4 do that too?
The one I'm getting doesn't come with the camera. Do I really need that?
Wi I still get the benefits of 'the playroom' without a camera?

What else have I missed in the year or two since I was possessed by the green side?

Thanks

Hello and welcome to the forum Borvad.

Game installs on PS4 and mandatory Im afraid, although at the annoucement of PS4 Im sure the info was it was optional, however its not the case.
However you can begin playing straight away,no need to wait for the game to be fully installed.

500GB may seem like a fair bit but on the next gen it really isnt and if you are a big gamer, especially with digital downloads I recommend swap it for at least a 1TB HD if you can.

If you wanna use playroom, you WILL need a camera, without one all you can do in the playroom is watch a video showing what you can do with a camera.

And play PS4 online MP (almost all games) you will need PS+,unlike with PS3.

What he said ;)

You shouldn't have too much of a problem catching up on the changes that happened in the time that you had an Xbox. Before you know it, you'll be totally comfortable again. The hardest part will probably be re-remembering the letters/colors on the right side of the controller if you come across any games that make you do an on-screen sequence! lol

What's PS+?

Playstation Plus (PS +) is where you can pay for a 1 month, 3 month or 1 year subscription and you can receive exclusive deals and offers. For the PS4, you need a subscription to play online similar to Xbox Live Gold. But the main reason I highly suggest grabbing up a subscription is for all the free games you can get. Devil may Cry, Borderlands 2, every month there is a few games added to the Instant game Collection (which is the free games library for PS Plus members).

Those games are for PS3 dont forget,so if the OP only has a PS4 those game dont apply.
It is the same for PS4 ofcourse, free game every month but the free games for PS4 so far are..well...an aquired taste, mostly indie game type stuff.

Welcome back to the darkside. Doubt you will regret your decision.

Yeah. PS+ isn't a bad deal. I really should subscribe to it. It sucks you have to play online but at least Sony makes it worth it with free games. Hopefully its not just a marketing ploy to get people to sign on with Sony and then a year or so down the road they just stop giving free games. Its a nice way of saying "thank you for choosing us".

Well, the deal went through and the Xbone is no longer.
I had my reservations about it when hooking up the PS4 but all good.
Got NFS Rivals, Assassins Creed Black Flag, FIFA 14 and Killzone with it.

Spent the day getting familiar with the console and have to admit, "Live from Playstation" does seem to have potential to be funny viewing!
Is it worth it to invest in a camera at some point?

One thing I had on an xbox 360 that wasn't on the xbox one, was videos of games reviews weekly.
Will that happen on the PS4?

All in all it gets my thumbs up and already used it more then the One!

See you amongst the forums!! ;)
