TV or Monitor

Does one have more disadvantages over another? I'm looking at getting a new screen because my HDTV is looking kind of old and shabby when I'm playing games.

I have no idea what I'm looking for honestly, all this 60/120Hz means dick to me so be gentle with the terminology.:D

lol just tell the tech guy in the store you want something with an AMOLED display at 1080p or higher, trust me you won't be disappointed, and at the rate the TV developement is going you cn get one for pretty cheap...

:D I am a fan of the AMOLED, those deep, sexy blacks!

I probably will end up getting a monitor and just keeping my tv for watching.... tv.

I've heard monitor is almost always better to go for if you're going to be up close, and especially for PC gaming. For me, I have a Monitor that also functions as an HDTV, which is nice for when I am sitting at my desk and just want to throw on the TV while I work on something else. I would look into something like that if you are torn between monitor and TV.

I wouldn't say torn, more... pushed for space! There are too many screens already but they are at retarded angles for work. I'll probably end up with a 24" monitor, anything bigger is not fitting my desk!

well do that then, but I thought you meant a new TV, for console gaming... monitors that you have to sit upclose to watch could damge your eyes you know

If you have a small desk then definitely pick a monitor. Monitors are built to give the best experience with a small screen. Since you're probably sitting up close, a tv doesn't really work. The problem I see with monitors is that the cheap ones don't come with built in speakers.
