What do you think about the try for free concept?

With the Playstation 4 comes the opportunity to try any game you wish for absolutely no extra cost at the tap of a button. I think this is a really handy idea. What do you guys think? If Playstation have expressed practical thinking in this, what else do you think they'll have to offer?

Really? That's pretty awesome. I must of missed that part when it was announced (PS4)

I'd totally be on board with that :)

That is a pretty nice feature.
I've played a lot of games only for 5 minutes thinking, why the heck did I buy this game?
Playing demos would be a big plus for me.

Well, it would be the demos of the future. You could play for a certain time, defined by the developer, and then you would have to start over. I think it would help a lot with sales of the games!

I haven't heard anything about this until now, It sounds like a really awesome idea, hope it is definitely decided as yes.

Anything that gives the consumer more power to make an informed choice (knowing what they're getting into before they buy) can only be a good thing. This will surely lead to a lot less purchases that end up being regretted and fewer games being returned to the stores. I hope this concept survives to launch, it would be amazing.

Oh definitely. I know there have been many times when a demo wasn't available for a game that I was interested in so I would have to purchase the game - only to find out the game was awful. So this will be very helpful for the future.

They kind of have things like this already, don't they? For Playstation Plus, at least. While browsing the PS store I've noticed that alongside the demos there's sometimes these 90-minute-or-so trial versions of the game, where you are allowed to play for a certain amount of time without being restricted to only demo locations or missions. I played one of them once, for Kingdoms of Amalur, and it was a pretty good concept and definitely contributed to my decision to buy the game in the end.

If they do this with more games for PS4, I think that'd be great!

Yeah, it's called playing a demo, nothing new! I don't understand what's the big fuss about... demos have been around since forever. Most of the brand name games give out demos, just to give a sneak peak for players who are on the fence about buying the game or not.

I like how they try and make this sound new and innovative. All they are doing is giving us demos to play. The demos will either have a time cap or a free mission/level you can play.

Nothing new here.

I think the new part is that Playstation has never really offered it before, except for Vita, I think? But yeah, they tend to play up the features to create some buzz, can't really blame them since people love talking about things and they're just providing it. Anyway, it sounds pretty neat to me, I'm not sure I'd want to spoil my games by participating in samples though, so we'll see, but I'm pretty sure I'd give in.

I haven't heard about this before, but I think this is a great idea. I'm sure it would help sales a ton. I'm almost surprised this hasn't been standard practice already, but better late than never I guess. I've been pretty good since I was a kid about judging from commercials or magazines whether or not I would like a game. But this will make things even easier.

It makes me feel old at the same time. Does anyone remember a time when you had to actually go into a Gamestop to play demos? :p

Personally, I am going to enjoy the ability to instantly try any game that is available for the Playstation 4. In being able to try any of the games before buying, it allows me to make a decision based upon my own experiences rather than the review of others which could be subject to bias. My only concern about the whole matter is that the developers try and cram as much of the budget into the first X number of minutes that once you buy the game and progress after that point it turns into a cruddy game. The only thing that I know of would be the mess that was known as "Aliens: Colonial Marines" but that was from this generation and had the "Duke Nukem" syndrome of being pushed around studio after studio without release.
