What is the one thing preventing you from wanting to buy a PS4?

I know there are a lot of things that people don't like about the PS4, but for me it doesn't have enough appeal to make me want to buy it for a long time (if at all). From what we know right now, I'm much more likely to buy a PS4 than an Xbox One, but I know there are a lot of details that are yet to be released. If I had to choose one reason why I wouldn't be interested in the PS4, it would either be the inevitable high price or the lack of available games. Plus, all of the games that come out for it right off the bat are going to be full-price and I almost never buy games at full price. Even if the console was about $500, and the games were $60 each, it would cost over $600 just to have one game to play. Once I finished that game, I'd either have to shell out another $60 bucks or else have nothing to play (especially since it supposedly isn't backwards compatible). I'm not saying it's a bad console at all, though. I waited years before buying an Xbox 360 and a PS3, and my waiting generally paid off.

Nothing is making me say "I NEED TO GET THE PS4 DAY ONE!" It's more like "I would love a PS4, but I'm going to wait a little bit before purchasing due to the high price"

I'm waiting to hear what other games will be coming to the PS4. The PS4 reveal showed some great games (like the new Killzone and inFamous) but would love to see even more.

Nothing is on the PS4 that makes me feel like I don't want it. I do really want it but I will be waiting a while after it is released. There are features on the Xbox One console that puts me off, but I can't say that about PS4, but its still lacking information.

Pretty much this. I will simply wait 2 or 3 years to when things calm down and we get a new model or a price drop and then i will get it with a bunch of titles, so i can hype my purchase.

It seems like the general consensus has to do with the price. I think the PS4 sounds really interesting, but not $600 interesting. I suppose the only way I'd consider buying any console on its release date is if there was some kind of deal where I could get at least a few different games at little to no extra cost. At least that way I'd feel like I'd gotten my money's worth.

I agree with the general consensus. I am a Playstation fan, but I am not willing to spend $500+ just for a gaming console. I still have a lot of college debts to pay so a new console is at the least of my priorities. Maybe I will be buying this in 2-3 years once the price goes down. I'm afraid that it will be too damn expensive.

In addition to the high price tag constraint, I honestly cannot find the time to play video games since I will be starting my first year in college in 3 days. I need to focus on my studies.

Probably the price for me as well. I bought the xbox and ps3 hoping to play everyday on it. I did when I got the two consoles for a week or so, but then I started to get bored. I don't know if it was because of the games, or just bored of the consoles in general. I still don't know what's on the PS4 yet, E3 is pretty close though, so I guess we'll see very soon.

The price. If it's reasonable then I might buy it. If it's insanely overpriced, I'll wait until New Years or Memorial Day 2014.

A serious lack of games will really prevent me from getting a PS4. I'd love to see the glory that is the library of the PS1 or PS2 to happen to the PS4 and I think that will cement a lot of people's decision in buying a Playstation, and myself as well. I really think they should step it up with this console since I think Sony has been in trouble lately and could use a good win. if they pull this off, I think it could mean a lot to them and it will benefit us consumers as well.

That'll never happen. Game ideas back in the PS1 and PS2 days were mostly left undone. Now...everything has been done. The gaming industry is a lot like Hollywood now. Low on original ideas and remaking and sequelizing everything.

You pretty much hit the nail on the head!

Well, there are many factors. The main factor is that I'm currently having some financial difficulties. I only have an allotted budget to purchase one console this year. So I'm certainly having second thoughts on which console to buy. Will it be the PS4, the Wii U or the Xbox One? Of course, the price would definitely be a factor. Most definitely, I'm going to purchase the cheapest console available. If they are all within the same price range, I would probably go with the console with the best game lineup.

I forgot to mention the other thing, and that's the demand for a new console in general. Even if I wanted to get one, I would have to line up outside of a store well ahead of time. There's no chance of getting one otherwise, and then you have to wait until it's back in stock later. When the Xbox 360 came out, there was a sale on Amazon.com about a year after its release for a good price, but it literally sold out in about one second because everyone waited until the exact moment it went on sale to buy it.
