The onky way is PSNow. I heard they would allow purcharses and renting both but I'm not sure.

At the moment there is no other way than PSnow, and that isn't available to most people right now either.
As for specific purchasing options and such. I don't know if much of that has been revealed yet..

I think that it really sucks that they are making these new consoles without the ability to play games from the Ps3. I really wish that this was something that you could just do as one of the features of the console. I guess you just cant get whatever you want in life now can you.

Most consoles haven't been backwards compatible. The couple generations that were were the exception... It seems like nobody realizes this..

In a way I understand people's want for backwards compatibility,I myself was glad the PS2 played PS1 games at the time but soon after I found I hardly ever played my PS1 games on my PS2,and when I did it was for nostalgia value.
The fact that PS3 didnt play PS2 games (except early 40GB models and the 60GB model ofcourse) didnt bother me.
The fact that PS4 doesnt play PS3 games doesnt bother me.
So you gotta ask yourself,did you buy a PS4 to play PS3 games or to play PS4 games? Im sorry,but it really is that simple.

I also still have my PSone, PS2, and PS3 all in good working order. The PS one and PS2 have not been turned on inyears. I turn my PS3 on once a month to download the PS+ free games. I usually play them for a day, and don't turn it on until the next month lol.
My question is, why get rid of your PS3? Just keep it, and use it to play PS3 games like it was meant.

If you have a PS3 already, you can still play your PS3. I have both, though I have only turned on the PS3 a few times since picking up a PS4.

No offense and while I do respect everyone's opinion but sorry, I disagree.As does most here too it seems.(going by replies so far).
The PS4 is a new console designed to play PS4 games,not older generation games,it does'nt have too.
It would be a nice bonus feature for sure if it did,but no,it should not be needed.

It's an age thing. People whose first console was a PS2 just believe backwards compatibility has always been a thing, but it's rarely been the case..

Ah the cartridge days. Though it was not like you could pop in an NES cartridge into your N64 though. Backwards compatibility wasn't common until the disc was used as the main medium for games.

I hate to tell you, but my first console was a Sega Genesis. And back in the cartridge days it was possible to be backwards compatible.

Didn't you need a special adapter for that? I'm pretty sure (4 year old me) remembers it couldn't do it out of the box. There is a very real chance I'm wrong... Sega does what Nintendon't I guess.

I believe you did. Sega released add ons for the Masters System so you can play old games. It was a hybrid Masters System that plugged into the Genesis so it piggybacked off it. Just like the 32x and Sega CD.

There is not other way than PS Now. I can understand that why people want to play old games on new console. I know that we buy PS4 for PS4 games but sometimes we'll think of old games and maybe have the urge to replay old games and this is how backwards compatibility comes in. Even though I still keep my old consoles but I no longer have them plugged in so it's for convenience and ease of access. It's good to have the option but definitely not a must, for me at least.
