What was the last movie you watched?

I heard that Elysium was good up until the end. That's funny that they wanted marshall mathers to play the main character instead of matt damon. I like how the recent string of movies have taken on r3volutionary and socialist themes. Do you think I should check out Elysium in theaters or wait until it is available to stream on the web? I've been able to find full films on the web only a year or so after they hit theaters.

Personally, I would wait to see it when it comes online or on DVD/Blu-ray. It is really good, but a full price movie ticket? I don't think it's worth that much, but that's just opinion.

By the way, had no idea Eminem was going to star in this :o

After Earth

I dont think it was quite as bad as a lot of user reviews on IMDB say,it was OK I think.
But they are right in saying Jaden Smith (Wil Smith's son) is not a good actor,he's pretty terrible. He was bad in The Karate Kid remake and he's not any better here.

6/10

The last movie i watched was The Dictator because one of my friends was all excited about it and it was free on Youtube so me, him, and some others all watched it. At first i had no idea what was going on because i thought it was going to be a documentary or something, but as soon as i saw a baby with a beard i realized it wasnt one xD It was a pretty good movie but a bit cheesy. Pretty fun to watch with friends though!

I just watched Oblivion on the web. It was alright. Kind of a dystopian sci fi flick. I thought it would have more of a story line to it. I was a little bit confused with the twists and turns that it took. I'd give it a 6 out of 10. Not a memorable film.

I just watched Oblivion today and I thought it was ok. The special effects were good but the movie just felt ok with me. I know it got a lit of good press, but I felt kinda let down because I was expecting WOW and I just got wow.

I just watched Bridesmaids based on some recommendations from female co-workers. I guess the two main stars of the film are on or were on Saturday Night Live. It was pretty funny and isn't jut a "chick flick" at all. After streaming it on a website I saw that it was actually playing on the USA network on TV too. I'd give it a 7.5 out of 10. It wasn't too sappy. It was more of a comedy.

I just watched Pain and Gain. It's a comedy starring Mark Wahlberg and The Rock. It's based on a true story about a personal trainer who decides to rob one of his rich clients. They're not pros so hilarity ensues when they keep messing up the simplest things. It was a lot better than I thought it would be. Definitely recommend watching it.

I just saw Face/Off on Netflix's instant stream. That was a hilarious movie, at least for the first 45 minutes or so. IT is quite the film. I'd give it a 9 out of 10. I'll probably watch it at least a few more times. It was that good. Nicolas Cage is the best!

Silent House

Wanted to see this to see what Elizabeth Olsen was like as an actress, and boy was she good. I really liked her in this film. The film itself was good. Don't understand all the negativity towards it. Sure, it's an american remake of a foreign film which even I frown upon american remakes of foreign films, but if you can't beat them - join them, right? Anyway, a few scenes had me in suspense and made me jump a couple of times. The ending, which I of course will not spoil, was very "WTF" but after thinking about it for the 10 minutes after the end credits, it all made sense and made me like the film a little more. And the way this was filmed was very unique. No cuts. One 90 minute camera shot following Olsen around (obviously they didn't film for the entire 90 mins in one take), was very impressive.

Good*

* My new rating system I call "The Good, The Bad & The Ugly"

OUTSTANDING: Only for films I feel are above 9/10.
GOOD: Recommended
AVERAGE: Not bad, but not great either.

UGLY: Avoid!

I've been on quite the movie bender. I just watched another Nicolas Cage movie. Gone in Sixty Seconds. It was another good one. I can't believe that I had not seen this one yet. Angelina Jolie doesn't even resemble her usual self. She has wild blonde hair. I'm sure most of you have seen this movie. It is worth watching a second time around. I give it a 8 out of 10.

Curse of Chucky

Chuck is back and you still don't f*** with the Chuck! Been looking forward to this one from the day word came out it would be in the works. Although I find the original 3 Child's Play films just ok, I really enjoyed the heck out of Bride of Chucky and Seed of Chucky. I was initially a little worried when I saw the trailer - it seemed to be a semi-reboot, ignoring all the other films or at least Bride/Seed. I won't give anything away but after watching Curse, I was relieved from my worries. Ok so how is Curse? Great! It took a while for things to get going and my worries were setting in, but after half-way through the film, things picked up and my worries died! Brad Douriff (think I might have the spelling wrong) was great as always as Chucky. But I do have my complaints. The blood and gore was pretty unnecessary - I am no fan of obvious fake CGI gore (well, I'm not a fan of blood and gore in general, but fake CGI blood is just awful). The "lesbian" scene was totally unneeded, felt like some producers stepped in and told the director to relate the film to today's sex-crazed youth. Also, so Chucky doesn't bleed now?! Aside from that, great film. Not as good as Bride or Seed, but still great. The ending will definitely make you scratch your head. I have my theories though.

Good.

SPRING BREAKERS

I've only just finished the movie as of a few minutes ago and am trying to figure out if I liked it or not. It started out good and promising, but towards the end I was getting irritated. Dialogue would repeat itself several times throughout the movie - in one case, there is a couple lines of dialogue that repeats itself three times in a row. The movie had an interesting style, I give it that. James Franco was surprisingly good. Selena Gomez gets an honourable mention, but the rest of the cast was just ok. Vanessa Hudgens (spelling?) just seems to be doing everything to get rid of peoples memories of her Disney past, but does so unsuccessfully. So yeah. A bit of a mixed bag. If you like certain female body parts and want to see teen stars gone wild, then go ahead and give this a go. But if you're after a great movie experience, then perhaps pass. Then again, this is only my two cents. You might of enjoyed the film and there's nothing wrong with that at all. Everybody has different tastes.

The World's End

At first, when trailers were released, I didn't really see anything special about it. Sure, I like Simon Pegg and Nick Frost when they are on-screen together, but as I said, I didn't see anything telling me "I need to see this film now!". So finally, I get around to watching this film and boy am I glad I did because this movie was just spectacular! The premise was pretty good, the characters were good and the twist was great. In fact, had this not of been a comedy, this would of frightened me a lot because of the look of the "aliens". They freaked me out a little. Not much else I can say except that I liked this a lot and recommend it.

Good.

Shaun of the Dead

Yes. I watched this after seeing The World's End because I felt like seeing the other films again in the unofficial "Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy" (the other film being Hot Fuzz) and yes, I enjoyed this one a lot too. Characters were great, funny as hell, and surprisingly touching at times. Won't go on too much as this is an "older film" and I'm sure everybody has seen it by now.

Good.

I just watched Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters. It was an interesting take on a classic fairy tale. I thought that they did a good job showing how their experience with the witch inspired them to become witch hunters. I like some of the dark humor they put into the movie as well. They put enough in to lighten the movie but not too much to mess it up. I wonder if they will make a sequel. I doubt it though. This movie was good but not that good.

Just watched Broken City at my moms. This was a good movie and not quite what I expected. Russell Crowe was good as the corrupt mayor and Mark Wahlberg was good as the ex cop hired to find out if his wife is having an affair. This movie keeps you guessing and the ending is not what I expected. I liked this movie.

Not bad actually, done in that reality camera style,I usually dont like those sorts of movies but this one is OK.
About space mission to one of Jupitor's moon's to see if there are any signs of life under the ice.
Dont wanna spoil it for those that havent seen it but as usual there are casualities along the way and the last few mins is where the main bit is..lol

Plenty of good user reviews over at IMDB giving it 10's and they say 'one of the better sci fi movies'.

I wouldnt go that far but it is well done,I would say an 8/10 from me.
Just dont expect Hollywood style action or aliens that bleed acid..lol

AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON

Surprisingly, I have never seen this film before. But my girlfriend and I are doing a horror movie a day for the whole of October (Halloween season). So every second night, we're watching one we have never seen before. And this was our first one for the month. I had heard great things about this movie, especially the transformation scene which yes, it was pretty darn good for it's time. Aside from that, I actually found this movie slightly overrated. It started off great, but got a bit average until the last 10 minutes. I give Rick Baker props for his make-up/special effects work as it is outstanding (especially the "walking meat loaf" ;))
