What's the most embarrassing thing to happen in gaming?

We're (mostly) proud of our hobby, but there have been some things that don't put gaming in a good light.

The thing I'm most ashamed of, and I still can't believe it actually happened, is the backlash after Bayonetta 2 was announced. I can understand being disappointed to some extent, but people were making death threats on various social media websites like twitter, to the very people that were making the sequel in the first place.

It's sad that that's what people imagine when they hear the word 'gamer'.

For me, playing any fighting game is an embarrassing experience. I don't really like fighting games that much anyway, but trying one out just makes me feel like less of a gamer somehow haha. That being said, I am better at Smash Bros. than other fighting games, but that game is designed to be more accessible to 'casual' players anyhow.

Well the whole fiasco with the Playroom on twitch is kind of embarrassing for the gaming community if you think of it. The sad thing is that it's nowhere close to being the most embarrassing.

I saw a VGA once, I forgot which year, but it was too awkward and I found myself cringing a lot. Not that I think it's the most embarrassing thing to happen to gaming, but I think the industry deserves something a little more well made. In general, I think the fanboy wars are the most embarrassing thing for the outsiders to see, to be honest.

I'm back! Wait no one even noticed I was gone haha so yeah I saw this topic and wanted to say something. Since I noticed some of you are MGS fans, after Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Hideo Kojima received a crapload of death threats and afterwards when he said he wasn't making anymore Metal Gear games. Yet again, more death threats. One guy even said, "I will go to any venue where you sign, I will stab you, I seriously will. Maybe I'll bring my gun since you seem to like guns. You need to make more MGS games, it's what you're known for and you would be hurting the fans if you didn't. I will hurt you if you don't, I will find a way, you're not that famous" it wasn't those EXACT words but i remember almost every word.

The most embarrassing thing to happen in gaming is playing someone you have no business losing to, and then you lose. That is the worst feeling ever when playing a video game. It makes you feel like a complete scrub.

There's so many, but the most embarrassing, cringe-worthy thing I've seen in gaming was the Killer Instinct demo with that rape-y "It's all be over soon." It had some large scoops of creepy added on.
