Will game prices go down?

Since the PS4 came out will it effect PS3 game prices? I know that the price of the PS3 will go down eventually but does that also effect the price of games?

Not likely for a few years. Sony is very good when it come to supporting their last gen consoles. The only way I can see them going down in price is once they stop making games for the PS3. I would think they will support the PS3 for a minimum of 3 years. I wouldn't expect to see any price difference between PS3/PS4 games.

I doubt it, but who knows? Maybe a few titles would go on sale on PSN, but that's about how far I'd go in terms of expectations. Sony's needing some profits, so I doubt they'll be doing us many favors soon. Not that they need to, of course.

I don't think so. Different game developers have been shutting down left and right. The reality is that big AAA titles cost a lot of money to make. They have to be extremely successful to eve make money off of these titles. I don't see the prices going down due to this.

It might go down after the holiday season. I think after the Christmas rush then prices start to drop quickly. They do pick up around back to school sales though so I like to buy before then.

Possibly but I wouldn't be betting on it. Games whose prices fall are the ones whose prices would have fallen anyways. I doubt the arrival of PS4 would be a huge difference maker in the near future. After 2 years or so perhaps, we'll see some effects.

Games generally depreciate in time anyway, but Sony are good at keeping their last gen consoles alive for some time after the release of their new ones, and the PS3 is still very much going strong. Games were still coming out for the PS2 way after the PS3 came out and it will probably be the same for the PS3/PS4.

As with anything over time, the prices will indeed go down. Once the PlayStation 4 has been out for a year or so, most prices for PlayStation 3 titles will definitely go down, but not on new release games. Since those are still "New" and require just as much funding to create.

Well not so for maybe the next 2 years. When new releases stop coming out for the PS3, we will start to see the real price drops.

Maybe if everyone started to download games they would. Developers wouldn't have to compete w the used resales.
