Your first gaming console

My first gaming console was a PS1. My parents brought it for me as a gift for my birthday. I prefer Playstation systems compared to other systems.

lol looks like a lot of us guys started around with the Atari 2600!! me being one of them. I had the complete plastic one and not the wooden fronted one. River raid, centipede, berzerk, missile command, defender, pac man and the totaly awesome star wars The Empire Strikes Back!

My parents had a NES. Loved that thing. After that it was SNES/Genesis emulators on PC until they bought me a PS1. Was so hyped when they told me they were buying one!

My gaming started back in the very late 80's (88/89 – one of those two, I'd imagine). I used to share my brother's Atari STE! I remember quite clearly that my favourite game was Gauntlet 2, followed by Pacman and Afterburner. There was a car racing game also but can't remember for the life of me what it was called. I just remember the floppy disc went funny and all it done in the end was play the title music on a blank screen with a solitary blue line running across the screen… When it got to that stage, I used to sit there looking glum listening to the music, remembering what it was like!

(Thought about the title for about ten minutes – I'm fairly sure it was Overlander!)

My brother used to also own a Nintendo Gameboy which I used borrow. It did eventually become mine but by then it was already on it's last legs and died a matter of months later…

My first 'proper' console which was solely mine was a Sega Megadrive which I received from my parents at the turn of the 90’s. You slotted the chunky cartridge into the top of the machine. It still only feels like a few years ago I was playing on that daily and it still doesn’t feel like an 'old' console to me. It’s been what, 18-odd years since I last held a Megadrive controller now…

I really am showing my age seeing other people's first consoles here were original Playstations! We’re getting into modern consoles here, as far as I'm concerned!

It's good to see a lot of gamers that started in the 2nd and 3rd generation. It was a rugged time.

My first ever console was a gameboy with Pokemon Red. If we are talking home consoles it was the Playstation 1 with Ridge Racer, good times.

Man I am feeling old. I wore out 2 Atari 2600's before getting my first NES for Christmas in 1987 (it was packaged with Zelda). My mom use to kick all of us kids out of the house during the summer and spend hours playing Zelda when we weren't looking. I bought my own SNES and Genesis just around my early teen years. PS1 came out sometime around mid highschool and I was hooked on Resident Evil. I joined the USN in 1998 and as soon as I reached my first duty station, I bought a Sega Dreamcast (spent HOURS playing Armada). By the end of my second year I bought a PS2, and started my sports and racing games phase. I played that PS2 until the Xbox 360 had been out for a few years because I was reluctant to switch from PS to Xbox. I picked up my 360 in 2008 and was playing it until New Years Eve, when I unboxed my PS4.

I had an atari and played some game called Super Football or something along that line. Oh and Video Pinball, that was a fun game and I only remember it cause I was going through a bad time as a lil 6-8 year old and those games helped me get through it.
