Personally, I think that the PS4 came out to early. There are hardly any games for the system and there doesn't seem to be many in development. I know that they need to compete with Microsoft but look at the PS3, that came out a year later and managed to catch up with the 360! At the moment, I have completed all of my games and now my PS4 is just collecting dust!

I see your point Neo as I to feel that there aren't many games in development but I attribute this more to the period they chose to release it. Seems to me releasing it during the game drought season is the problem. Japan made a wise choice in holding up the release until February so that they can get more games by then and the wait for new games wouldn't be too long.

I agree. I'm still perfectly happy with my PS3 and the graphics look far from being outdated at this point, so I'd say the PS4 could have been delayed another year and I wouldn't have noticed or at least I wouldn't mind it. Still, there is a difference between getting released too early and being rushed, and I'm just glad that it didn't turn out to be the latter. I trust that everything will normalize soon enough.

I teach English part time in Japan but get paid double the salary of the average full time American! I actually have a lot of hobbies, but I also have enough time to complete the very small selection of games the PS4 has to offer.

Honestly, there are more games available for PS4 than I have ever purchased and played through in a single year. I don't see it as a problem at all.

Are there even that many PS3 games released in two months?

Meh. Its the same with every new console launch. They go like "OMG NO GAMES", In my opinion, it came out at a perfectly good time. The older consoles were starting to feel dated.

Launch line ups are usually sparse, it'll take a year or so for the market to really take off. Plus realistically it would have been business suicide to not release the console at the exact same time as the X1, it would have allowed MS a huge advantage even delaying it by 6 months.

I would love know how to finish BF4, Ghost, Assassins creed 4, NSF rivals, fifa, warframe, war thunder, don't starve, killzone, escape plan, DC Online, contrast, blacklight, resogun, sound shapes, flower, super motherload, tiny brains, doki,doki, flow, injustice, NBA, Angry birds, knack, lego marvel, Madden, trine 2 and N++ in 2 1/2 months. You do know most of these games are online right?

It was the exact same for the Xbox 360/PS3 launch and currently is for the Xbox One as well as the PS4. Its just for now and something everyone has to put up with, in a few months we'll see some great new titles coming out.

Xbox One is having the same problem. Most consoles have a somewhat-bad lineup at launch and a few months after, it's not just PS4. Although PS4 has had some issues that should have been taken care of pre-launch. I think release date could have been a month later to perfect it, but it was fine otherwise. Also, with all the hype surrounding the system, they'd want to release it before they released Xbox One to get more potential sales from people who just wanted either next-gen console.

Every console launch lineup can't be as great as the PS2's. Sometimes you get solid ones and other times you get fairly weak ones. This one was more in the middle of decent and weak. As plenty have said throughout the forum before: just wait. That's been the name of the game since the PlayStation first hit the gaming arena.

I have to be honest, technology has now got to the stage it's moving too quickly for me – and I'm only 28. Scary, really… I honestly feel as though I've only has my PS3 for a few years, but I bought it a matter of a month or so after launch, so I’m sure you can work our from that how long I've had it.

Do I think the PS4 was released too early? Yes, I do. No. I don't feel the console itself has been 'rushed'. Far from it. However, I do feel it would have been fairer if Sony simply waited until this spring to launch it, when there will be a better selection of games available and games to make use more of it's features (i.e – the camera). I think delaying it for a year would have probably been too much but I don't think issues from it's owners such as this would have been raised if it was put back six months. In short, the hardware is ready but the software isn't.

As I've said in other discussions, I'm perfectly happy with my PS3 as it stands. I don’t like to go on about how games look too often (I much prefer how they 'feel' to the gamer) but the graphics on games such as 'The Last of Us' really do show it still hasn't been fully utilised. Given that and the sheer cost of the new console, I'll happily be continuing on with my PS3 until at very least April (my birthday). Maybe for much of this year – we'll just have to wait and see. It all depends on what deals / better value bundles will show themselves over the course of the year. I'll happily play 'the waiting game' on this occasion.

This is nothing new. Every generation in my lifetime with a console release has been like this. The PS4 didn't come out too early, it came out right on time. There are just as many games out for it as there are for the One. The beginning of every console generation is like this. It happened with the PSX, the PS2 and PS3 generations. When a console is first released, there are not that many games for it at launch. The way I see it, most developers are working on next gen but they aren't rushing to get the games out. A good chunk of games that launch for a new generation are first party or supported by the first party in some way in order to get them out.

Think about it this way. A lot of developers need to get the development kits, learn how to use them then develop the games. First party or first party supported developers and games (like Killzone, Knack, etc) get the kits early so they can jump start development. Also, there are so many more games in development right now and the developers are taking their time, still developing them or delayed them (Watch Dogs) to make sure are perfect before releasing. By the end of the first year, just like the last couple generations, the game selection will be much much bigger.

Facts are, (For both PS4 and the XB1) a console launch should never be this pitiful! Either have a decant launch library or don't bother to the masses and wasting people hard earned money with no games.

And how many of those 29 games offered online multiplayer as easy at it is to play online nowadays?
