Did the Playstation 4 come out to early?

I would love know how to finish BF4, Ghost, Assassins creed 4, NSF rivals, fifa, warframe, war thunder, don't starve, killzone, escape plan, DC Online, contrast, blacklight, resogun, sound shapes, flower, super motherload, tiny brains, doki, doki, flow, injustice, NBA, Angry birds, knack, lego marvel, Madden, trine 2 and N++ in 2 1/2 months. You do know most of these games are online right?

The thing is that the vast majority of these games are available in other systems, including the PS3. PS4 doesn't have much exclusive content at the moment, that's a fact.

I don't think it came too soon, I think they should have focussed more resources into getting games ready in time. They should have got Naughty Dog and Media Molecule on board to develop some exclusives for launch, and put more resources into getting InFamous Second Son to release on time.

The way the gaming on PS3 and 360 had gone in the last year, I think the new consoles were right on time. GTA V is great and all, but it was pretty much the only interesting game other than The Last Of Us to release in the year leading up to the PS4 launch in my opinion.

Exactly what I was going to say! It really cracked me up to see Angry Birds on that list lol! I practically fell off my chair with laughter! At least you brightened my day!

And how many of those 29 games offered online multiplayer as easy at it is to play online nowadays?

Have you put many hours into the online aspect of these games you have whizzed through?

I have put time into multiplayer but I'm growing bored. I'm sorry but I prefer a good story over killing people time and time again on the same maps. It's so monotonous! I feel like I should be paid to do that shit! I want a game that will take me away to another world!

When you put it that way I see your point. I don't know if you are a Assassins Creed fan or not but if you haven't played AC4 I would recommend you do. Hours and hours of game play, I am not done but I have enjoyed the story so far. Is it the best game? No but it's the best game on the PS4 IMHO.

So enlighten me what games you have played, and what games you like.

The games for PS4 were well publicised before launch, so too were the release dates..

Maybe it was YOU that bought the PS4 too early. :o

Yes, a lot of games were well publicised before launch, a lot of those games didn't make it to the launch month did they! I preordered my PS4 ages ago, before they made deadline delays on games like Watchdogs and Drive Club. Heck! Even Ground zeros was being touted as a launch month title. Yes, I could have easily cancelled my preorder but I thought: "At least I have a PS4 secured, I might as well buy it." All this doesn't stop me asking the general question: "Did the PS4 come out to early?"

I don't believe it came out too early. I can see why some would believe that with the launch selection being light, but the selection has always been light. Plus add the fact that you're not going to want to play every game offered--hell, there might not even be a game for you in the lineup, really. If you're a sports, racing, or FPS fan you're guaranteed to have a game for you at launch. You can be an action fan but not like the series offered, slim chances of an RPG being available, etc.

I'm going to have to say yes. Simply put, there's no games. I have a ps4 and it's been doing nothing but sitting around gathering dust. I don't regret buying it because I know games will come, but I'm spending all my time on ps3 currently. It has so much more to offer and there's still a lot of big titles around the corner, i.e Dark Souls 2, FF13-3, South Park SoT just to name a few. I just know that once my free month of ps+ runs out, I will not be buying another untill some decent games launch.

But there's almost never any games on launch. It's been that way since the 2nd generation. The only time there's actually been games at launch were the SNES, Genesis, and PS2 (especially the PS2). Other than that, you've always had a weak launch, it's always been announced that "These are the games coming out for X console at launch" and people have always had to wait until later in the first year for more games to pop up and middle of the following year for a regular flow to kick off. It's always been like that.

So you admit to pre-ordering the console in the early days - seems like you did buy the console too early. You jumped the gun :o

But there are games.

Out of the 4 games I got when I bought my PS4 (not including the free games) I've only completed one of those games.

It's always the same for new console releases. The console needs to be out there and in the customers mind in order for developers to put serious cash behind development of games on the system. Image if the PS4 hadn't been released yet and most people still had their old PS3s - as a business which one would make more money for you quickly? It's an obvious answer and that's why it always happens this way around.

But I don't really care that I bought one early, at least I have a PS4! I would end up buying one eventually so it makes no difference! And when I preordered the console, the launch lineup was looking a lot better! I know things can change but in this day and age, they shouldn't! These are intelligent people, they should be able to foresee a little better when a game is going to be finished. It is a problem that shouldn't exist anymore. It's either: Tell us the real release date or keep your mouth closed!
Also, let's not just think about the lack of games here, the console already seems outdated as in terms of graphical power. I think they could have waited a bit longer and had a more powerful console (I know they technically already do) than the Xbone, something on the scale of actual side to side graphical difference.

I remember buying the Xbox 360 nearly a year after it came out, there were a dozen games I could buy, half of them were HD copies of xbox games.
I think this genration of consoles is doing better so far than the last, at this present moment in time.

@NeoTokyo PS4 has the power in other areas though. To quote SpaceTiger (again ) if graphical power or power overall were the major deciding factors in a console's success and game library and affordability took the backseat we wouldn't be at the PS3 and PS4 by now. It would be a Nintendo-Microsoft game by the time of the PS3/Wii/360-period (but Sega would probably still be gone).

Not saying that was your whole point, but it's something that comes up way too often in discussions.

I'm sure I don't need to explain to you about budgets and companies hitting these budgets. You are probably also aware that with any business, you're asked to project your profits for the next 2-3 years at times. They'd have made these projections public because they have to. It's never the devs that say "oh yeah, Game X will be out in Nov 2013" 12-24 months prior to the expected quarter. Most of the time it's the gaming community that sees the developer is expecting large profits in Q4 of 2013 and plucks the date out of thin air.

Don't forget that developers are still getting to grips with the hardware of next-gen consoles. I'd rather them make a perfect game than a buggy one, and if that means waiting for an extra 3-6 months then so be it. As long as they get that game out within the same accounting year, then their shareholders/bank will be happy too.

I noticed that you didn't reply to my earlier question of what games you have played on the PS4, and what genre of games you'd like to play...

I think the PS4 came out in perfect time. The start of every generation is always slow, but the high sales of the PS4 and X1 show that people were definitely ready to upgrade.
