Dual shock 4 analog sticks wearing off?

I am using the same controller since launch of PS4, and it is showing clear marks of wearing where I rest my thumbs :(. Seeing that PS4 is very new console, Sony has made very bad choices about the material that covers the analog sticks. Has anybody's cover completely worn off? What preventive measures should I take to avoid that?

I put on Orb pro thumb cap's day one so ofcourse all OK for me.
I suggest to all try regular thumb grip's or the pro version for extra length,or kontrol freek for extra length too.

I guess it's a well known problem, but as I use kontrolfreeks, it's no problem for me. It's bad though, that it wears off that easy!

I've been playing everyday since i got my ps4 the other month and not seeing any signs of wear, but i still want to get pink caps to match the pink controller cover i bought hehe :)

Pink controller? I love pink, but I think controllers must remain black as they can get dirty.

things you learn everyday...

Hehe nah i remember having a yellow controller for n64 and it never got dirty, but i'm always cleaning my controllers. I think if it got so dirty it wasn't pink anymore i would just get a new cover :)

I've noticed some wear on my analog sticks and was considering kontrolfreeks, are they any good ? Do they actually improve your FPS performance ?

Some people swear by them,as for me,well its just Ive gotten used to the longer sticks so much that if I take them off I find it to hard to play without them,so in a way Ive kinda handicapped myself as I cant play without them.

btw: I switched from Kontrol Freeks to Orb Thump Grip Pro ages ago.

I would't play without them! They really help my accuracy! It's much easier to aim IMO. They make me a way better player than I would be elsewise, combined with good headset and scuf-like buttons underneath. I made the mod myself BTW.

Yeah I had that problem too, I had to replace one controller after only a few months. My hands usually get really sweaty while playing, and sweat + spamming the analog buttons just can't go well... My cover was completely worn off after a while.

Yep, pretty common complaint among PS4 owners. Just get those $2 thumb grips from Amazon. I use those to make my DS4 look more fancy and colorful lol. Really sucks that the material is cheap and flimsy though.

Its probably because you're palms sweat a lot? I have the same problems with my Xbox controller, the rubber cover completely melted and what's left was the plastic. But yeah, just puchase those $2 thumb grips.

I have slight wear on mine. Glad I saw this thread though bc I would have never thought about the thumb pads/grips.

I will probably have to invest in some thumb grips in the very near future. It is a shame how quickly these have worn.

To my knowledge, it will wear off no matter what. Unless you avoid using the analog sticks.
