I think it would boost sales. I believe the reason for not selling colored consoles is that the companies are afraid that noone will buy them. It also costs a little extra for them to design it that way. I wish they would offer custom-made consoles though. They are not losing anything from that.

As RaggaJungle said, it was a fad. It lasted for a little bit, but eventually, it was going to become just another game. I played it myself and thought the game was pretty boring. It wasn't very different from all the other games that were similar to that.
