Buying a new tv for PS4

I'm looking for buy a television primarily for PS4. What specs should I be looking for? Size will be about 25"-34". I'll be playing mostly FPS games.

1080 is a given
60hz or 120hz? From what I'm reading I won't get anything better out of a 120hz since games will be running no more than 60 frames. Is this true?
LCD OR LED?

Any other suggestions will be greatly appreciated, thanks

What is your price range? That will be the biggest factor in your decision. I would suggest 120hz and LED but a 60hz LCD will do everything you want. the biggest determining factor for me buying my last tv was HDMI inputs. If you are just going to hook up one thing then it wont matter. My new TV has 4 HDMI and I still have my 360 unplugged because of not having enough inputs. just something to think about

I would say wait for 4K but that would take a while and for 24"-32" you wouldn't notice the difference anyway.

I suggest a 60Hz LCD/LED since you won't profit from any more Hz than that with a console. Do you prefer any specific brand that you have good references from the past?

You can get a pretty great tv for reasonable prices now, but I would wait until Black Friday before you make any purchases. I'm ordering a new TV online the minute the clock changes. I agree with BioLee about the specs but I'm going Samsung when it comes to brands. But really the cheapest TV is probably going to win.

I think the more important things to consider are the display type and where youll be putting it.

When it comes to colors and black levels, a plasma is hard to beat when calibrated correctly. However, they are slightly heavier, use more energy and generate a bit more heat. The weight only matters when youre moving it, not when youre using it. The energy adds up to like 15 dollars more per YEAR than an LCD and the heat isnt ridiculous either.

Also look for a tv that has a "game" or "video game" setting. the other settings like Cinema Vivid etc sometimes look nicer BUT this is all post porcessing, which adds another layer between the signal and the display.

Game mode is the straight signal, which is already processed and made beautiful by your PS4, the tv only needs to display it. Since there is no post processing going on, you also have less of a chance for input-display lag to occur.

dynamic contrast ratio is something good to look for, the higher the better. Its not a super reliable number, and different manufacturers count it differently, but i still find its best to find the highest in your budget

Well the PS4 will be for my bedroom, space is very limited. My price range is $100-350. I'm a fan of Samsung. As far as inputs, I only need 1 HDMI for the PS4, a 2nd would be nice in case I decide to add anything on later.

From what I'm reading, 1080p 60hz/LCD will preform for a ps4 with a high dynamic contrast.

Listen to this advice. Wait for black friday, there's certainly going to be really low prices on the tv's, so you can definitely get a better one for the price you are willing to spend.
In my opinion, the bigger the better.

Also, as others have said, black friday is only a few more days away. Try to hold out for a better deal. Use the money you save for either more TV or another game.

Exactly you have a specific budget, and a brand that you like to use. Also the PS4 comes with an HDMI cable (so did the Wii U and I like that console devs are doing this now), so that's one worry already taken care of. Just check out online deals on Black Friday and you should be all set. I'm sure that you can find something that you'll be happy with on the day.

Just make a list about what it is that you want for you're TV. You already know how much you want to spend so the rest of it is just a waiting game. Like every one else has mentioned, Black Friday is coming and you'll be able to get what you want within your price range. The only real decision that you have to make is whether or not you want to go to the stores or order online.

I was thinking of waiting until 4K, I'm just surprised the consoles won't support 4K. Especially given how much Sony has pushed the technology. I guess they learned their lesson with the PS3. They could push the technology and drive up costs, but that just ultimately hurts their gaming division and costs them more money.

Just browse online right now. Check out things like Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, or whatever stores near you sell electronics. Find a tv that you like and make a note of it. Then early on Black Friday and we also forget Cyber Monday buy the TV that you want on sale. But remember to wake up early, I find that a lot of deals are usually gone by 12pm.

Waiting for Black Friday is definitely the best choice, but if you want my opinion i would tell you go go with a ASUS screen. Using mine for three years now and works like a charm! It only has 1 HDMI port, but seeing how cheap it was, i really don't mind it.

Google the Playstation TV... I have one in one of my guest rooms and it had the best picture Sony Had made up to that point and rivals current 1080p Bravia's... Has 3D, costs about $179 and fits in yer size range... Other than that, I'd get a Sharp Aquos LED... To really see what the PS4 can do, think about a 4K tv or projector... While they aren't cheap and 4K resolution being readily available is years away(My sony 4k projector came with a computer tower 'loaded' with an hour or two of 4k footage. I think about 120 Blu-Rays would be needed to hold one 4K-cinematic resolution-full length movie) and the prices are up there, the upscale is surprisingly good and , in the case of my projector, at 200"(I keep it on 150" normally) its a struggle to even see the pixels! As for Hz, go with the 60... nothing really goes pat that... blu Rays run at 1080p 24fps, as does Directv 1080p Cinema... And yes, the PS4 runs at 1080p - 60fps...

There isn't a medium available that has the memory it would take to make a movie,much less a game... Like i said, it would take over 100 blu rays to hold the content of one full length movie! The sony 4k projector i was given came with a computer tower with an hour or two of 4k content and it is a top notch tower! It has a window scene shot in italy and some film clips in their original 4k cinema resolution... My tvs only have minutes on two blu rays... It will be the late 2010's before its even close to becoming reality... Hell, Cable and Satellite don't even broadcast in 1080p now! box upscales signal to 1080i for broadcasts and 1080p for ppv movies...

I only own a 21 inch Tv and believe it is all right. but for the case of TVs the prices are relatively high at the moment and getting a good deal can be quite hard. The black Friday is quite near and making a decision to wait until then can translate to huge savings in your case.

Plasmas are best for gaming, in my opinion, but don't go less than 1080p 50", only buy Panasonic, and keep it in a cool, dark environment. Burn-in isn't an issue anymore

Agreed with Sidd, 1080p/1080i, Plasma, I have a Sony HD TV and this thing rocks my socks. I've had it for like...years.
