Did you ever drop it? Is it sturdy?

I haven't dropped my ps4 yet, don't really want to. I did use my original xbox to kill one of my previous girlfriends then, WHAM. The ps4 just doesn't have the potential weapon of homicide value the first xbox did, sadly. You drop a ps4 on someone they're just going to be very confused.

Funny thing is that the original Xbox was designed to withstand a quite decent drop.

Anyway, I don't see why you would ever risk dropping your console. Especially these days with wireless controllers and whatnot.

Haven't dropped the PS4 itself. The controller has fell a few times. It's sturdy enough. It's not in the Nintendium level like the Dualshock 2, but it's durable even though it doesn't feel like it.

As someone who has had mostly Nintendo and PS consoles after Sega went developer-only I can say that they're usually the most durable. I've been afraid to drop a PlayStation console since PS2. I used to sit it upright because it was the cool thing to do and Sony advertised it sitting upright and it fell often. If you sit a console flat and on the floor you have nothing to worry about unless someone double stomps from the dresser or a waist height surface or higher onto it.

I dropped, well - tripped over a cord and smashed a Xbox 360 once. But as for the PS4? Nope. Never will as long as I can avoid it.

You know, you'd think you wouldn't trip over cords and that you see that stuff while going in that direction, but sometimes you're wrong and everything gets pulled down: console, papers, whatever else is around, the disc gets mangled...it's just terrible.

This is definitely true.

That is why i buy an eternal, and put all the wires behind the entertainment center. That way i do not even have the risk of tripping over them. I always keep things on a low level surface out of harms way.

I have my HDTV bolted down to the stand so it can't fall also. those things are too expensive to expose them to any kind of risk. It might seem a little extreme, but it is better to be safe than to be sorry.

It doesn't matter, Nintendo is a small console that can't achieve the performances of a PS4.

It matters you have to drop a PS4 (from upright position) and you have to get it fixed and dropped a Wii U and don't have to worry about it. It's like "Is this console made of cardboard, dreams, and electronics?"

There was also the Wii U Pad drop test from reasonable heights onto asphalt. It survived.

It's a great console. Not only that it achieves great performances, but it is also very solid and resistant!

I'd rather have a flimsy bit of kit that can't take much punishment but is technologically advanced and treat it with respect and love.

I knocked over a bowl of cereal onto my Atari Lynx handheld and tv - both died in a puff of smoke!!

If I had a gameboy I'd probably have been ok thanks to Nintendium!

I think it's less that it's designed to be a "kid's console" (a misconception that isn't going away anytime soon) and more that they just know how to make a sturdy console given that they had a 2 generation head start on Sony and 3 on Microsoft.

Plus Nintendium is reenforced with the crushed dreams of Atari, Sega, Intellivison, and Coleco. I mean I've never had to use that lifetime guarantee offered for NES and SNES (back when the gold seal was on everything of quality).

I'm actually disappointed we don't have Sega as the Mastersystem and Megadrive rocked!

I think Nintendo spend money on build quality, Sony spend on tech and MS spend on buying exclusives.

Don't forget, Nintendium has been around since they first began. Like the picture posted earlier, there is a Gameboy that was firebombed in the first Gulf War, and it still works to this day. Children's console nothing. Nintendium supersedes all consoles.
