Do you think the new Steam controller will take off?

As most of you are aware, Steam is developing their own little controller primarily designed for the purposes of being able to play mouse and keyboard games on a couch. For those of you who haven't seen it, it looks like a controller with speakers on it. The "speakers" are trackpads that give you tactile feedback on your fingers.

Now, to me, it looks like a pretty cool concept and I think it will be appealing to console gamers as well as PC gamers who hook their computers up to a TV, but do you think it will have widespread success based on what you've seen?

I think it's a cool concept, and it's definitely revolutionary. But I'm having a few doubts. Not because I don't think it will work well, but just because it's so damned ugly. I think the lack of visual appeal is going to really cut the popularity of the device as pathetic as it sounds.

It looks cool, but it also looks hard as he'll to play! I watched a video of a guy from IGN. Play Portal with one of them controllers and he was just all other the place! I would like to own one, I'm always up for something new! Who knows, it may be the best form of control for gaming yet?

Yes, from the looks of it, I do think it will take off. In my opinion, it looks like it's going to be a lot better for FPS games than regular controllers, and for someone looking for something a little more accurate than the traditional ones but don't want to be messing with keyboards, it seems like it can do the job. The only downfall I can foresee is if they somehow don't function as well as they should, but from the design alone I'd say it seems pretty promising to me.
